Yeah, it's against the Pirates, but Jamo was great today.

Totally agreed - they’re still professional hitters. That same team swept the Dodgers a week or so ago 🤷‍♂️

It's funny thinking how well PCA hit that ball, seemingly with all he had.  Then comparing it to what Schwarber did in the wild card game.  Miss that guy.

Some former Cubs have definitely had an interesting 2025, where you’d want a few of them back. Chapman, Baez and Schwarber all became all stars after all of them largely sucking the last few years.

Has Taillon moved ahead of Boyd in the playoffs rotation?

Wasn't long ago, Boyd was looking like the no.1 guy for that rotation

I don't know, but Jamo's ERA is about 1.70 in the last four games, including today.  Boyd's last 1.5 months is more like 4.50.

We probably shouldn’t base decisions on four start sample sizes

Might only be 4 starts since his return but hes only had 4 bad starts all season out of his 21 where he gave up more than 3 runs.

Boyd has given up 4 or more in 5 of his last 9 starts.

If Soroka pitches well in the 8th, he might close the game.

That would be a welcome rest for the high leverage guys

It would be great if the circle of trust can get a day off

Interesting use of Soroka.

Get him some work and saving the bullpen..

Soroka, Assad, Civale, and maybe Rea may be guys that will come in and just eat up those 2-3 innings if needed to get to the late guys or in extras in the playoffs.

They’re going to try and catch lightning in a bottle on a pitcher who can go more than one inning getting hot. Might blow up once or twice before the end of the year but highly unlikely it will have any actual impact.

Matt Boyd is a significantly better pitcher. His results have soured a little bit, and I’ve been more worried than most about him hitting the walls, but the need around here have assured me the underlying stuff all looks fine, which is enough for me. Limit his pitches the next couple weeks, give him an extra day or two, and then give him the ball for one of the three games.

Yeah, the ump and Hodge sucked, but Craig should have let Soroka finish the game.
