in this post I will use the results of one game to justify all my prior arguments about the team and indirectly call out everyone who had different opinions as being obviously and clearly incorrect

Also, busy day so I couldn't tune in but: how horsefeathers impressive is Cade Horton.  I'm really excited about his future.  He could be the ace of this rotation in a year or two

Why is Palencia pitching in this game?

I think they want to get Palencia "right" (I believe he's had 2 or 3 outings in a row where he's given up a run).

Unfortunately, looks like today isn't any better.  Starting to get a tiny bit concerned about him

Entering today, Turner was up to a 125 wRC+ against LHP for the year, and 150 since May 1.  2 for 3 w/ a 2B against them today.

.302 / .345 / .487 on the year including today.

Absolutely...another great start for Cade. I realize and accept the fact they'll have to limit his innings at some point. Hopefully Tallion and Assad can come back and help out in that regard. Horton is too valuable long term...gotta protect our investment with him

I wonder if the Cubs arent even considering Horton for postseason and will shut him down in September, with both Taillon and Assad due back and they can use Brown in September.   This is the most innings he has pitched since 2022 and in his pro career by far.

2022 53 innings last year in college

2023 88 innings combined in minors

2024 34 innings combined

2025 he has 108 innings combined now

Figure he has 4 more starts left and probably 20-24 innings overall to get him over 130 IP.
