Cubs are looking to add a RH bat, they're not going to ship off their current best RH bat...

I agree, there is no chance the Cubs should dip into any major league piece that is actively contributing at an above average level.  Let the Padres try to outsmart everyone - Cubs have a strong enough farm system where they can get it done without going crazy

really hope the Cubs get Sandy.  He's been dominant in his last 2 starts and starting to look more and more like the guy that was a top 5 pitcher in baseball a few years back.

He also adds a totally different dimension to this rotation - a guy with great velocity and pure "stuff"

I know there are some weird work around rules with the injury, but maybe Amaya is on the table in that situation? Or Carson Kelly to bridge the gap to Salas? Elias Diaz and his 67 wRC isn't getting the job done.

I mentioned Amaya yesterday, given the prices of pitching so far, i think it matches up

Yea it would be one of those two going back if we were to trade a catcher to them. As they were looking for an impact catcher - Murphy/Adley. I think it would be more likely that we send prospects and they flip those prospects to a third team to acquire a catcher.

Cubs don’t matchup with SD.  , unless one of Amaya / Kelly is involved .  SD is looking for a LF and C . Suzuki ain’t going anywhere

Don't see a ton of 3 team trades in MLB (I dont think) but this could be a situation where it might make sense.  Cubs give prospects to another selling team, who trades major league players to SD, while the Cubs get Cease

AJ Preller has the patience of a toddler.  If that team had a better GM, they would have sucked for 1 year in order to have James Wood, CJ Abrams and Mackenzie Gore for the next 6 or 7.  I mean, mercy.  Jed looks like GM of the year next to that guy

Steven Kwan is though. The Padres just need someone to give Cleveland prospects for Kwan, then deal Kwan to them for Cease and/or Suarez. I could totally see this

Cubs trade Alcantara+Triantos for Kwan

Cubs trade Kwan+Amaya to San Diego

San Diego Trades Cease+Suarez to the Cubs

Murphy would make sense but I would think Adley has enough team control that a team like Baltimore would want to hold onto him (especially because this would be very much selling low).

Amaya or Kelly hold enough value that I don't think you'd have to include too much more, which is tricky if they're looking for prospects to flip for Kwan or whatever.

I know this move probably makes the Cubs better but damn, I really don't want to lose Amaya.  His breakout is for real.  Especially for a rental like Cease.

Would be a 3 team trade most likely as mentioned with Cubs, Padres, Guardians. Padres get Kwan, Cubs get Cease and Suarez, Guardians get prospects.

Feels like Jed has a lot going on. Excited to see the outcome. The 3 team trade makes sense. Good to hear we are still battling for Alcantara. Plus you know Jed works in silence. No telling what all he has working right now. Should be an exciting few hours

That makes sense .  What would Hoyer deal for  2 months of Suarez / Cease ?

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that it's going to be Murphy/Adley at this point. That's who they were targeting a couple weeks ago when Murphy was thought to be available and there was chatter that Adley was going to be their big swing this TDL. More so was agreeing with you that if we traded a catcher to them, it would be one of Amaya/Kelly as they are looking for an impact catcher for this season/playoff run. (Opposed to a Mo or Reese)
