Yall brace yourselves. If we trade for Suarez that 4 year streak is history. Cruz and Franklin is a pretty steep price to pay for an expected stats darling rental.

If he's headed to the pen and he's anything like he was in 2024, the price was low.

Suarez to Seattle

If you felt a huge gust of wind, it was Matt Shaw letting out a huge sigh of relief.

Curious to see the price there.

Yeah, really not worried about the price on Soroka. Franklin a backup OFer and Cruz could be anything; there is upside there but so much unknown. He's more likely to be in toiling betwween South Bend and Knoxvills for four years than be an MLB regular. He does have upside, but there are always Ronny Cruzs.

Do you think Shaw forced Jed not to pay up for Suarez based on his play since the ASB, or do you think that had little effect and Jed just didn’t want to match / beat whatever Seattle offered? I know it’s hard to say without knowing the return yet, just curious your thoughts

My guess is that the Cubs were never going to pay stupid Arizona prices on Suarez. Shaw hitting well made it even less likely.

But I am starting to think the Cubs really believe in their developmental ability. PCA, Amaya, Shaw have all made mid-year leaps based on mechanics. And I also think they have internally liked Shaw a bunch as a player. Combined? I think they were always going to stand by him.

Kittridge to Cubs. Heyman.

Alright Jed. Shored up the pen tonight, gives him all tomorrow to work out the big SP trade and a bat.

Cerami is a goof ball but obviously has a friend in the FO. He always gets wind before others
