NO to Suarez, a 60 day rental. I think Cam Smith is the answer at 3B. How many runs has he already saved? His bat is coming around. May Ryno rest in peace, but he struggled badly when he first came up. So did Tucker who was also sent down.

I wouldn't trade for Suarez under any circumstances. Offense is not normally the problem and he is not a good fielder. Right now we have close to a Gold Glove IF and OF. Don't mess up the chemistry. Cam Smith will be an excellent player.

why do you keep bringing up Cam Smith in this post?  Do you mean Matt Shaw?

Lou Brock probably shouldn't be either even if you give him a little extra for baserunning that WAR can't really account for back that far.

Why shouldn’t Brock be a hall of famer? He was a great player.

HOF barrier is around 60 WAR.  He's at 43.5 and even if you tack on 5 for things that weren't accounted for back then with regard to baserunning, he's still well short.  Hall of very good, no doubt, but not really HOF worthy.

Brock accumulated enough. They're never gonna keep out a guy with 3000 hits. Unless there's some of kind of weird extenuating circumstance a la Pete Rose or A-Rod.

If Harold Baines is in the HOF, Brock certainly should be. He, at least, was best in baseball at one thing for a long stretch.  It is not true that the HOF barrier is 60. I agree, most are k we that, but many are not. Dave Parker just went in. He isn’t at 60. As mentioned before, Baines too.

If we start using Harold Baines as the barometer for HOF worthiness they’re going to have to build a few new wings in Cooperstown. He has the same career bWAR as Russell Martin lol.

A rental is a rental...NO DBacks.
You don't move that caliber a prospect for 50+/- games of Eugieno Suarez.

Can I like this comment twice?!

totally agree 👍 Matt Shaw, Wiggins, among others are your future building blocks. 50-70 games (pending playoff games), quite frankly is not worth blowing up your farm system. They need to stick to finding some solid arms for the second half push IMO

When Brock played and elected to the Hall, the things he did well were valued way more than they are now. His poor defense was not held against him that much. Plus he was a World Series hero.
