Seeing many of these laughable proposals

I agree with you and we all say the same thing. But what if that is the cost? We are all biased. We are fans. So inherently we expect to get steak for hamburger. I do think trades are going to cost us a lot more than we all think they will cost.

Id be ok with this if Wiggins wasn't involved, but not sure if Alcantara just going to magically turn his season around for himself the final 2 months.

Id rather see how close they can be to adding Skenes with this group involved.

I agree trades gonna cost a little more for them cause teams know they need another quality starter and they do have talented prospects that are ready to near ready to be up.

There's not even bias involved in something that absurdly ridiculous. That's straight up something a homer on an espn message board 10 years ago would have posted.

I’m not talking about that specific example. As I said originally, the Cubs would say no. But I do think the fanbase here is undervaluing the cost of what a solid pitcher will cost. I think a lot of people will be complaining about what the Cubs give up for whoever they get.

That group doesn’t get the Pirates to even respond. Getting Skenes for that group is less likely than the Cubs giving that up for Alcantara. Neither would happen.

I said with them involved not just them

I realize that. But I think for Skenes it would have to be quality over quantity. I am not sure the Cubs could put together a package that would have the Pirates moving Skenes.

I feel like fans fall into two camps:

1. Make up trade offers that send fringe bench players/prospects for a star

or

2. Make up trade offers where it takes all 10 of your top 10 prospects to get a MOR pitcher for a rental

Maybe not that drastic, but I do tend to agree with you. It is very hard to figure out what is needed in the way of prospects to make a trade. I will just say, IMO, if/when the Cubs do make a trade, that most here will feel it is an overpay. I think a lot of fans expect to trade 3 lbs of hamburger for 1 lb is prime steak. It doesn’t work that way. I think if everyone here likes a proposed trade, it probably is not fair for the other team.

I think had you polled Cubs fans (even if just on this board) last September and said "create a reasonable trade proposal for Kyle Tucker", NONE of them would have been "starting 3B, mid pitcher, plus one top prospect". It would have been "OMG Caissie and PCA and Wiggins and Horton and...."

I think just as many thought they were giving up too much for him when they made the trade.

I didn't care about losing Paredes or Wesneski but man was I bummed when the prospect was Cam. He was one of very few, if any, Cub prospects who had franchise player upside. I remember really hoping it was like Alcantara/Caissie. Man is that deal probably going to look bad if they can't keep Tucker around.

Really good look at the under the hood stuff for Alcantara.  Things look fairly rosie.

Still a hard no thanks if the asking price is even in the same universe as some of the rumored ones. At some point the results have to actually show up. If the Marlins just want to cash in their chips and Alcantara+ someone in the 11-20 range get it done sure, but I have less than zero interest in movie the top guys let alone multiple top guys.

The rumors are from complete nobodies, I am not even sure why you care.

I'm certain the Marlins will put a very high price tag on Alcantara, in such a case, Cubs probably won't pay.  Will other teams?

I think if you get Alcantara they also need to get Cabrera. Then you worry about what needs to be given up. And it will be a lot. That said, I want Joe Ryan if the twins would move him. Him and Cabrera. Then don’t even worry about Suarez. They would need someone, but that someone could be Moncada for almost nothing. Just a guy who can hit league average. Urias? Castro? Or some other guy who is a FA next year for a lottery ticket. Add two starters like Cabrera and Ryan and let all else fall in line.

I don’t think any team will pay a really high price tag for Alcantara. But I also think some are ridiculous to think he can be had cheaply(Triantos). He will cost a higher prospect than Triantos. Someone will pay more than that.

If the Cubs don’t want to lose that much prospect capital I would like to see them go to the Dbacks and get both Kelly and Gallen. Similar to when the Cubs traded Samardzija and Hammel to the A’s. The difference is both these guys are rentals, so they shouldn’t cost a higher prospect like Russell was. Might lose Long and a lottery ticket guy, and maybe someone else🤷. Gallen has done well his last few starts. He might be good from here on out.

This is the one if they move him. Come on Jed.

Yep, be cool if they can leave Minnesota with him on the plane with them

My thing with Alcantara is I worry that he just wont be the guy were hoping for to finish out this season.

I think what he has done so far will continue as he is working his way back from his surgery and missing a full season, now next season he can be much better and closer to his normal self.
