Whoever is chucking it for the Biscuits is hitting triple digits but can’t throw strikes

Yeah Shaw's ready.  I'm alright with it being a few more days because of the roster shuffling already in line with Happ coming back, but he needs to be a big leaguer again at worst in Cincinnati.

Reggie Preciado over the last month is hitting .284/.351/.403, which is I believe north of a 100 wRC+ in that park.

It's not enough to re-shine the apple, but he's getting back onto the "keep tabs on me" list for me.  Still age appropriate for SB.

Jonny Long joined the dong party as well.

A tertiary benefit to calling up Shaw sooner rather than later is that it opens up opportunity to play 3B for Long.  Because the bat is probably not far from MLB ready.

Yesterday, walk off HR.

Yesterday leadoff HR.

There's no significant change overall. Feels like anecdotal changes based on pitcher more than anything, I think.

You would think Iowa was in the PCL with some of these guys numbers. Long is freaking hitting 375. Strumpf has a 975 OPS now lol what in the world

Strumpf is having an interesting year. He is older so not a prospect, but it looks like this year he is swinging at more pitches and not taking the walks he always took in the past. I am just going by the numbers I see. But in the past he had hit around .230 but had an OBP around .360. He also struck out a lot. Which tells me he was very selective in what he swung at therefore he drew a lot of walks but also struck out a lot because he passed on too many pitches. This year he is hitting .271 but with an OBP of only .350(which isn’t bad, just not how he used to perform) with a slugging over .600. As j said, he isn’t a prospect and will probably always be a minor league ballplayer. I just find what appears to be a chance in his philosophy on hitting, interesting.

Long is going to be a nice trade chip at the deadline if he keeps this up.

Hot take, I'd rather deal Caissie. Right now of the Iowa guys that could actually headline deals  I'd put them in this order for people I'd part with.

1. Triantos

2. Caissie

3. Long

4. Alcantara

5. Shaw

I've mentioned this previous but I think there's a "Pick 2 Keep 2" with Caissie/Alcantara/Ballesteros/Long.  In addition to their actual performances, I do think what happens with Tucker and to a lesser extent Shaw influences who it makes sense to keep.

As a RHH 1B/3B/DH, I think Long is almost an automatic keep if either Tucker sticks around or Shaw disappoints.
