My favorite Eli fact is that the only category he ever led the league in for a season was interceptions, which he did 3 times.

I realize that Eli is going to make the HOF because his last name is Manning, he won two SB and he played in New York. But Eli 100% should not be elected to the HOF.

This isn’t a response to you, minny. The Eli HOF stuff out there bugs the crap out of me.

no offense taken. I just love to minimize any A-Aron love with exagerated Eli takes - lol

The only person I feel like the "was sacked too much it ruined his career" actually applies to is David Carr, who I harbor an irrational, non-evidence-based belief would have had a reasonable NFL career if he went to anyone other than the expansion Texans.

I firmly believe that dozens of QBs were ruined by circumstance just like Brady greatly benefited from going to a team that carried his mediocre ass for years before he developed into a great.

i think it happens but its very rare

most players just kinda settle into who they were gonna be anyway (this is impossible to debate and i'll hold onto my own ideological position understanding others will disagree)

I’m clearly a Homer, but putting Allen over Brees is madness.  I’d argue Rodgers as well but that’s at least an argument.

There is an argument for Allen. He already holds a number of NFL records and he’s only 28. With consideration I was probably too unkind to Brees here, however Allen is absolutely already in this conversation.

Here's a name that I think gets chronically under appreciated:

Philip Rivers

It goes unremarked upon for the most part but Rivers was a much, much better QB than Eli Manning at the end of the day.

And when Eli gets in because of name, the HOF credibility will take a hit in my eyes.

hes also going to be wrapped up in the "Eli dont do San Diego" crap too. Rivers was a great QB, and had he played on a better team likely SB winner

I'd love to see the Bears grab at least 1 high impact OL in FA, Realistically they need to bring in 3 and that really limits their ability to take BPA in the draft. Go out, grab an impact guy where if Mason Graham happens to be on the board you can take him then still address OL twice between the two 2nds and the 3rd.

They need to sign at least 2 starters in free agency. Even then, you're counting on at least one player from the draft to step in on day 1. Not sure you want two rookies protecting your QB after last season's failures. If the plan is to continue with Braxton Jones at LT, the holes can be filled a lot more easily, but I'd guess about 3/5's or more of the cap space the Bears have should be spent on OLine, if not more. The depth on the OLine is just as concerning.

Until this past season Eli was top 10 all time in yards and TDs with 2 superb owl MVPs under his belt, and he didn’t miss a game for like 15 full seasons or whatever. You’re talking about him like he’s Bobby Hebert.

He was a fine QB. He’s just not a HOFer.

At the same time, you yourself make a good case against him. The Hall of Fame isn't about guys who were above average players with miraculous health for their entire NFL career. Was their any time he was a clear cut top 5 QB in the league?

Jay Cutler has a higher career passer rating

Speaking of discourse I'm tired of hearing...

Can we stop with the "well Tom Brady never got blown out in a Super Bowl" stuff and a reason why Mahomes will never be the GOAT. Sure, it's true that Brady's SB losses were all close. You know what's also true? Tom Brady lost by 19 to Joe Flacco in a game where Brady threw two picks and fumbled in the first quarter and the Pats trailed 24-0 after the first quarter. Tom Brady also lost to Joe Flacco twice, Jake Plummer, Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles and Ryan Tannehill in the playoffs.

Brady is still the GOAT and Mahomes isn't anywhere close to it yet despite being on a trajectory to get there (and there's a decent chance he never gets there). But people act like Brady never laid an egg in a playoff game which is just wrong.
