Dude, we have a difference of opinion in Flaherty, period. And even if he is open to a short term deal, that deal isn’t going to be for a low annual amount. Even if you want to compare him to the guys last year, all of them got a high annual low year deal. Let’s say he does a similar deal to Montgomery. Do you want him at that price? Honestly, I don’t. I definitely do not want to see $20M to $25M tied up on Flaherty. I would much rather trade for Lopez or Cease, or any number of other guys. Maybe you will be right and he will come for a 1 year with a second year option, to the Cubs. But I don’t like that move for the Cubs.

Ok so I don't need you to remind me you like making inaccurate declarative statements every time I mention wanting to acquire him

OTOH This is literally true of everyone. Swap out Sasaki for Flaherty or any FA and nothing else about this post has to change to be true

it's not literally true of everyone. Sasaki is constrained by the man in how much he can be paid while the others can be paid whatever. They don't have to go to the highest bidder, but they almost always do go to the highest bidder. I didn't write this in your language so you may not understand it.

Yeah, Burnes was the only TOR FA SP I had big interest in. Sasaki and/or trade otherwise

WOW. A simple answer post. Well done.

This is the only part really 100% true here

I can at least follow the Cubs fan logic when they straight up take players off because they may eat too much cap space. At least that is consistent and straightforward. Sasaki is what…not expensive enough to fulfill the desired optics?

hey dude maybe it's time to stop acting like nsbb's top intellectual authority while simultaneously being unable to read or comprehend what literally anyone is saying on here

What is your problem? For one thing, what is inaccurate? For another, we are talking. What is wrong with you, with this anger if someone doesn’t agree with you. Settle down DUDE!

Wish he would announce who it is, not who it won’t be. He can announce whenever he wants. Just can’t sign until the 15th. If it is not the Cubs I don’t want them losing those other signees because they are waiting on him. He has had 5 weeks to decide. I am pretty sure he knows where he is going.

If the Cubs miss out on other signees its because they are cheap horsefeatherss and not because they were waiting around on him.

In talking about the IFA they are said to be getting. If they are not told they are out on Sasaki they can’t sign them on the 15th. They might lose them if that happens. Has nothing to do with being cheap….. in rhis case.

The problem is they can’t make Sasaki choose them. Sure, he would be awesome. But if he wants somewhere else there is nothing they can do about it. I am sure they did a good presentation. I do believe that is one thing this FO is good at. But Sasaki still might not come.

Correct,  this isn't about offering him the best contract to convince him to come, this is more about presentation and convincing him that he'd have a greater opportunity of success playing in Chicago then elsewhere, but it also boils down to more of his preference and where he feels most comfortable at.

I just hope he makes his decision this week so that if Hoyer has a plan B, C, and D , he makes those moves.

Looks like he is telling teams today. So far Mets, Yankees and Giants all told they are out.

That true, and i believe that the reason they're waiting on him because he would be a great talent that would be very cheap.

I agree what you said above, just frickn say who you're going to instead of having this elimination countdown.

Is he going to hold a press conference tomorrow with caps in front of him and put on the team he chooses like the high-school kids do 😏😏

Padres, Cubs or Dodgers, just gotta hope the Cubs were more convincing and the city he'd prefer playing in.

Youre being obnoxious. Your stance on his market has been inaccurate. 2 weeks ago it was we're not gonna give out a 5-6 year contract, then it was shown to you he has a cold market, now you're saying we're not gonna give him a 4-5 year deal the same morning articles are saying he might be looking at a short-term deal. I don't need to be repeatedly told that I'm dreaming. It literally feels like you're still going by November projections and I don't care to hear it. If Jed is stupid enough to roll out with this rotation - and I don't see Jed trading for any worthy names on the market because the league doesn't value our prospects on a commensurate level- and I'm not even counting Roki - then I'm gonna be mad. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

This is not true as a response to my post. I was talking about losing out on the guys they have a handshake agreement with to sign with the Cubs in the 15th. The IFA that expect to sign. If Sasaki doesn’t eliminate the Cubs by then they will have to ask those guys to wait. They may not want to and the Cubs could lose them. That has nothing to do with being cheap.

Ok, maybe suggesting you were dreaming to think the Cubs will sign Flaherty was wrong. I do apologize for that. But, honesty I have no interest in Flaherty  In a long term deal or a short team deal similar to Montgomery’s.  But,my stance on the market has not been inaccurate. The market changes. He did want a 5 year deal originally. Just about 10 days ago he said he would consider a shorter deal. Like you said, the market went cold. With a shorter deal MOST LIKELY comes with a higher annual. No thank you. I happen to think he can get a much better.

I was agreeing with Brian  with the cheap part per se, I do think theyre waiting.

I also agree with you with getting an answer from him one way or other so another team don't  back in on the IFAs they agreed with while waiting for Sasaki answer.

I'm just pointing out how the millennials can worship how focking savy Jeb is with every focking deal he creates. Oooh let's sign gimp arm brooks Raley to possibly pitch 10 or 11 times at the end of the season. Oooh I'm glad we signed boyd for 29 million, because he looked good after a dozen games last year.

I'm asking you directly rcal, what has Jeb done to correct the major hole in the bullpen to address 26 blown saves? There are-were major candidates to sign this offseason. So far, Jeb is looking at his rear view on all of them. I've seen you mention dozens of times about how much Jeb has left to spend. Guess what? Perhaps he can't spend to last years numbers. This was suppose to be his "all in" season. Brooks Raley and Colin Rea aren't what I'd consider "all in"

Listen to rcal!!!!  Us boomers have to stick together.

It's Mike Rodriguez. Not only is Mike perpetually wrong, both Mathew Trueblood and Jesse Rogers have refuted him.

It may remain likely Sasaki choses one of the other (rumored to be four others) teams over the Cubs, it also seems pretty likely that Mike is (once again) clout chasing and has not gotten the drop on anyone.
