only if you want to revisit the past my friend. personally, I love the ones who have come before (Doug Atkins jersey is my x-mas request) but look very excitedly to our future.

Williams would need to average 247 passing yards per game for the last 6 games to match the Bears single season record of 3838 held by Erik Kramer.

That's a plausible longshot. I'm really rooting for a defensive collapse where we get lots of garbage time for him to put up numbers.

I'll believe when I see it, but I sure am seeing a lot of speculation that Eberflus is out after the Detroit game, albeit not from big industry names.

If you were ever gonna do it, that'd be the time.  3 straight division losses, presumably the Detroit game will be a blowout on national tv, and a long week to get things settled with your interim.

I want it to happen just so Bears discourse can move on from the "OMG NOTHING MATTERS UNTIL WE FIRE THIS IDIOTIC COACH" phase.

imagine if he was doing it w/o a defensive collapse....

I won't believe it until patch.com has a report out

Speculation has been that Thomas Brown could end up being a head coaching candidate this offseason. They feel his coaching style is reminiscent of Mike Tomlin's.

But, you can't possibly interrupt the chemistry that Brown and Caleb seem to be having by promoting Brown to interim head coach, can you? I read somewhere that Brown was a Poles hire, not an Eberflus hire. There was more speculation that Poles wanted a guy who he felt comfortable replacing Eberflus with if he needed to, and Brown seems to be that guy.

And if Caleb and Brown develop a tight rapport to end the season, how does that potentially impact the whole starting over with new coaches idea? If Brown took over as head coach and found success, a lot of questions would be answered. But, is he even a consideration to be the next head coach? What if this team lost out with him as the interim?

I suppose the decisions of whether to go for it on 4th down, challenge a play, argue with a ref, etc...wouldn't be that much more of a burden on Brown's ability to continue having success with Caleb. Honestly, a no head coach approach might be better than Eberflus constantly getting in the way of himself (disagree with Kyle on the value of a coach), but as of now, the only REAL important thing for this team for the rest of this season is the further development of the star QB.

I will say that I was very pleased to see the ball spread out much more against Minnesota. I was worried the game plan would be too similar to the GB game and Minnesota would shut down the short game, but Brown seemed to create plays that moved the ball down the field much better, despite success at moving the ball on the ground.

Curious where you heard this?

It's super plausible that this is it for Eberflus. Even if they don't formally fire him until after the season, the decision probably gets locked in after the absolute dog walking the Lions are going to give the Bears today

I predict great things for Thomas Brown.  After all, we share the same name.  I have it on good authority he’s destined for success.

I see we’re still doing the 3rd and long soft coverage conversions. Staple of the Eberflus defense

It was man and the man got beat.   Last week everyone was screaming about zone.

Eberflus is such a moron challenging that. It’s a big impact play, I get that. But there’s 0 chance they overturn it. Just wasting timeouts and challenges. Moron

The challenge thing is legit baffling.  An NFL coach getting paid millions and his criteria for throwing challenge flags is how cool it would be if it were overturned, with no regard for whether it's actually going to be overturned.

No pressure at all on Goff so far

That is by far the biggest issue with this defense.  The front four is simply not good enough.

And as I type, we bring the bltiz everyone's been begging for on 3rd down and get smoked for 29.
