Hey Yankees, sorry you missed out on Soto. Can we interest you in a Cody Bellinger at a mere $27.5M?

The crazy thing is that the Yankees' best backup plan now is trading for Bellinger and throwing a ton of money at Bregman.

Guess who wins in that scenario?  Boras again!

MLB Network just said there's apparently escalator's that could put this over 800m.

Apparently Yankees offered 16/760.  Imagine losing that bid.  This is insane.  Jed's gonna get that extension now hahaha

Is it though?  When is the next time a player like Soto is going to be available at his age?  If you want to play with the big boys, you have to spend the money.  Meanwhile, we sit back and hope that we hit on second and third tier lottery tickets.

No, it’s not dumb. In a world where franchises change hands for several billions dollars, the assets that make those franchises valuable getting $50m a year is nowhere near dumb.

The limitations normal people place on themselves…

It would be fun if this guy turned out to be something.  IIRC one of the Yankee/Red Sox "traitors" like Damon or Ellsbury netted a star via comp pick

Is the Mets roster any better now then the Yankees was with Soto ?

I dont think so, I doubt Soto opts out after 5 years, I just see this as the Mets just kinda screwed themselves if they don't win a WS in next couple seasons because they won't be able to unload that salary.

The same Yankees who just played in the World Series?

That what I'm saying,  I don't think the Mets with Soto is better or same as the Yankees roster.

Probably should of worded better, i just dont see the mets roster, especially their current rotation being all that great.

Yeah, they probably should have just signed a few mid level guys instead and tried to wish themselves into the playoffs.  Why go out and get the best player available in his absolute prime?

The Rizzler being aligned with the Mets while Big Justice is a Yankee fan probably should have made this outcome obvious from the start.

Who are these people and why do I keep seeing them everywhere?

I mean I sort of know who they are, but I completely don't "get" their schtick and why they are relevant at all.

Anything can happen, but it's hard to imagine Soto being able to beat a $51M AAV from age 31-40.  But I guess the escalator clause gives the Mets a LITTLE bit of security that they control their own destiny to keep Soto for the rest of his career if they choose to do so.
