He was worth it if you were getting picks attached.  Zach should be traded for picks but you're gonna have to take back a matching contracts and it's not likely it will be like all expiring matching contracts.

Yeah, I think people are overestimating LaVine’s value. He has a max contract and his reputation, fairly or not, is something a little more than an empty scorer for bad teams that plays bad defense, has knee issues and about to hit 30 years old. 
 

With this trade they are positioned well for 2026 offseason in terms of payroll flexibility (horsefeathers I sound like GarPax), and now control all their 1sts again which is helpful since the Bulls wouldn’t be able to trade a 1st until 2028 if they kept it this year (top 10 protected). 

this is a little different than the AC trade, where they traded him to a team that has so many 1sts that they give them out to trick-or-treaters at Halloween, and didn’t get a 1st back

That's at least 3 major trades AK has made where he clearly did not get the best of the deal, even right away. 

Vuc trade, Caruso trade, and now this one have all been clear losers from the start. 

By trading Zach and getting back nothing better than guaranteeing you gst your first this year (which was basically guaranteed in any deal where Zach got dealt, you essentially traded him (and a 2nd!) for nothing.

literally about zero chance. They're way to far ahead of the other teams to even finish in the bottom 4. They'd have to pull a lucky rabbit out of their ass from the #5 spot.

Yeah but with the draft odds lower now it seems more possible. Plus I think this draft is still considered super deep

probably right, we should be able to get draft capital and bad contracts that expire after this season or the 25-26 seasons for vuc/ball/coby/ayo though

Even if the Bulls had kept the pick this year, it would have gone to SAS next year, right? So they are getting a first round pick in the deal.
