Taylor had himself a ball game.  I didn't see it live but I'm looking at the highlight reel.  Punting usually isn't a highlight but yesterday it was.

yea, 4th rd pick for a punter seems extreme....unless he turns into the Devin Hester of punters as he looks like he very may well become. What he does for the Defense by pinning the opposing offesnse deep every punt is phenominal. I'm calling it now, retire #19

(thats sattire jersey...leave it alone)

I'm encouraged by Caleb's progress, but LA coming in to this game ranked 30-32 in several key defensive metrics. I can't remember them all, but you get the idea.

Also, whoever said earlier that the divisional teams are much better than their recent/upcoming schedule is right on. If the next 4-5 weeks this team can gel and acutally get better they will have a fighting chance in some of the games in the second half.

Yeah, only 264 yards of offense at home against a bad defense is not great but all I care about is 1) they won and 2) they (and particularly Caleb) showed noticeable growth.  The 2nd half was the first time it felt like Caleb was calm and in full control of the offense. Yes there was a lot of check downs and some dink and dunks, but to me it was taking what the defense was giving him and he looked collected as he sat in the pocket and went through his progressions. I’ve definitely seen QBs that get checkdown happy but it looks frantic and rushed. That was not the case with Caleb yesterday.

Yes his accuracy on deeper throws needs to be better, but I’m actually not worried about that all that much. Looking at his stats at USC, Caleb completed 57.4% of his passes beyond 20 yards while the average completion percentage for those types of passes in the NFL is…57.3%. There are a lot of differences between college and the pros to consider but this isn’t one of those areas IMO. He’ll connect on them as he gets more comfortable in the NFL and with his teammates.

Speaking of Caleb…I’ll probably actually watch this one since it’s free:

Probably not able to watch the whole thing but I fast forwarded through just to see what I landed on and was surprised at the not-so-kind words on Moore's level of effort, which he says is happening regularly.  Happens around the 20 minute mark.  Caleb's having enough trouble hitting deep throws without having to deal with a WR who isn't getting down the field as fast as he can and perhaps not looking for the ball.  He was wide open for a TD there.

I know Moore let up on that play, but Williams threw a 4 seam fastball also. I feel like Moore could have ran faster (committed to the play) BUT ALSO Williams could make that throw with a bit more air/touch on it to make it a gimme play. Otherwise, Moore would have been running flat out catching a horsefeathers dart, I can see that failing

I would be surprised if DJ is not giving the effort. I wonder if it’s due to him getting injured earlier in the game but only sitting out briefly.

Is JT O'Sullivan the guy who irrationally hates DJ Moore? I can't remember if its him or Tim Jenkins. One of those guys.

There's a vague story brewing that DJ Moore is dogging Williams and I think its pure rumormongering. I don't think there's anything to this other than the fact that Williams is a rookie, first year in a system, working with guys he's never worked with before. When you watch a duo like Mahomes and Kelce, there's all sorts of unspoken understanding of where the QB expects the guy to be, where he'll go if a play breaks down, what kind of throw to expect, etc. etc. All that has to built, oftentimes over the course of years. We're just not there yet.

I'm pretty confident it will come, though.

It was a cannon blast, yeah.  Which is weird because Caleb puts good touch on other passes.

Man, he had a 70 yd TD to Rome there and just didn't see it even though he was looking right at it.

Rose colored glasses, but I feel like he's going to connect on a deep throw TD or two and that's going to break the flood gates open.  One can only hope.  The plays are there to be made, just have to get the ball to them.

One would hope, but then again we (as a fan base) have witnessed these great moments hoping they were just passing mirages:

The above with Mitch, guess that's Clinton-Dix on his left in the end zone, I remember some Packer fans saying Clinton-Dix picks it off if Mitch throws that pass.  I don't know what cheese they were sniffing because, unless Clinton-Dix is Quick Silver, there's no way he comes close if Mitch rips a fastball to Burton.

I wouldn’t be completely surprised. Moore vocally supported Fields before they dumped him. Maybe that was playing the good teammate or maybe that was real. If it was real, and now he has to break in a new QB who clearly played terribly in the first couple games. It’s entirely possible he’s annoyed. But it seems more likely to me that the two guys just need to get on same page and they’ll be fine eventually.

I just came across this.  Moore on the play:

"I'll take that blame," Moore said, via Kevin Fishbain. "I went back out wide. I just wasn't on the same page with Caleb. Now I know. I'll take that. ... He thought I was doing one thing and I messed it up. That was really it. I told him he was cool."

Sounds like what you are saying is the case.

In watching the entire clip, he clearly had issues with Moore throughout. Granted, he was pretty accurate on some of his criticisms. The routes were not fooling the defense on some plays and he wasn't blocking on others. With that said, he probably is frustrated in not having many opportunities for longer routes because of the lack of Oline protection. There is still plenty of time to get everyone on the same page and turn this offense into a playoff caliber unit. Well, maybe not the Oline, but they could still make it happen in spite of the Oline. Braxton Jones looked really bad on several of the plays JT analyzed.

The thing I’m most fascinated/depressed by is that the Line play significantly improved after Teven came out and Matt Pryor came in. Maybe it was just the scheme, and the adjustments Waldron made, but it would suck if Jenkins is kinda…done here.

ah well, play your best 5 guys and make something happen

My fear of Darnell Wright being a JAG is... growing. He's actually graded worse than Braxton so far. Disappointing for a top 10 pick.

He played fairly well last season, unless there's a injury involved, I'm not getting how his play went from competent to garbage.

This upcoming draft is going to have to focus a ton on the Oline. I'm scared of taking another Davis type of retread. If the team isn't retaining you, there is probably a reason. Build from the draft. Has Amigadje gotten any action yet this year?

Regarding Wright I know many were looking at taking Carter, well, thus far, Dexter >> Carter.  Think we're starting see Dexter scratching the surface of his capabilities.

hasn't he been missing some practice time with a back injury? May just be rest, but it's probably not nothing

man I wish I could find it but there was a Bears guy on twitter saying the same thing the other day.  seems to be an overall disappointment in his performance this year.
