I don’t even think there’s a whole lot of career Value for Imanaga to go the whole way? I doubt any of these guys want to put their career on the line for something so frivolous anymore unless the conditions are perfect

Badass game, team’s going to be pesky in playoffs. Good PAs up and down the lineup

TOM!  Are you playing a game of " I Predict "?

Cubs are going to be pesky in the playoffs?

I remember watching Johan Santana’s Mets no no more wincing than cheering. That horsefeathers was traumatic lol pass. I’m all for pitchers pitching, but Imanaga’s already a high effort guy with 23 HRs allowed this year, probably had some dead arm with 9 in 6 August starts, so on

The zambrano 0 hitter the whole while he was throwing on adrenaline as well as fumes.

13 earned runs in 6.1 innings in his two starts after that, and then wasn’t anything great in the one playoff start he had right after that (6.1, 3 ER, 7 runs, 9 base runners)

I recall now. Thanks for refreshing my mind with the numbers.

The SP should have a say in staying in a no hitter, right? What if Shota was fine with coming out of the game?

lol he didn’t even know. Nor did Pearson coming in or even Amaya.

How was I supposed to know? I did not watch the game or the post game conference, only following on my phone.

Normally I would say, "of course he knew he was throwing a no hitter", but with how Paredes was kicking the ball around at third base, I can't blame Shota for losing track.

Apologies for the edit here: wasn’t trying to take a shot at you, more just laughing about all the anger here about pulling him and robbing him of this opportunity that he didn’t even realize he was a part of

Dansby Swanson up to 3.5 WAR.  He's got an okay chance of ending the year over 4

PCA's at 2.2, which is nuts considering his playing time.  With how much his bat has been shielded, particularly early on, prorating his numbers up to 600 PAs would be a bit intellectually dishonest.  But still he's probably played at a ~3.5 WAR level as a 22 year old rookie.  And that's not giving extra weighting to his 2nd half numbers at all.

He has been playing nearly every single day for the past few months, and his numbers have been much better than they were when his bat was being "shielded."

Losing 2 of 3 to the last place pirates at home takes a lot of shine off this win. Only thing keeping me watching is PCA since they refuse to call up any other youngsters

There's a lot of stuff going on with pitching injuries. As many injuries as ever, if not more, even with the new protocols. No doubt about that.

What managers can do is avoid meaningless stress. Maxing Imanaga out with an unprecedented personal pitch count for a potential no hitter is a very easy stressor to avoid.

Ok. I will agree with you on meaningless stress. In my opinion though this isn't meaningless stress. This was a possible once in a lifetime opportunity for Shota. That is not meaningless in my opinion. Now if he give up a hit, absolutely pull him. But not in a no hitter.

I mean, let’s just pretend that’s true. It’s not, but let’s pretend it is. If that’s the case, why waste whatever bullets he has there? Most people around here are climbing over each other to call this a completely lost and worthless season, as if there’s no enjoyment to be had in anything short of an extended playoff run. If that’s the case, then shut him down, right? Certainly don’t go for a career high in pitches for this terrible team.

Or are we suddenly doing a 180 on this because shota could (maybe!) join such hallowed grounds that Alec mills was the last guy to do it all of three years ago?

It absolutely is true. When was the last time you have called a pitching injury? You haven't. They are completely random. Look at the amount of aces that went down this year. It's pick and choose on whose going to stay healthy.

I will concede that yes, pulling guys in meaningless scenarios is probably the right call but this wasnt meaningless. It's a no hitter, that's a once in a lifetime thing for most pitchers. You don't pull a guy during that. Those aren't wasteful pitches. Maybe you don't value big moments like no hitters the same way like I do and that's fine, im not hating. But there was no reason to pull him there.

You're good. I agree, the anger is lol worthy.

They got hurt throwing limited innings. It can happen anytime.  The likelihood of Shota getting injured on 25 more pitches is just about the same as his first 25. We're not talking Prior going 110 pitches about every time out.

Counsell did the right thing.  His job isn't to create fan-friendly moments around individual player achievements at the risk of making Imanaga more tired for his next start during a playoff hunt.  If Counsell were to give up on the season in early Sept he should be fired.

I shut off my DIrecTV on Monday in favor of You Tube TV. Marquee was on DirecTV, but not on YTT. Does anyone have the Marquee app? Is it stable? Does it work well? Thinking about forking out $19.99 a month next year for the app if it works good.

I was a bit bummed I couldn't tune into the Cubs game when I was notified about the no-no. But, as soon as I went to my Yahoo sports app to check in I saw they pulled Shota and I no longer cared about missing the game. LOL. I'm in the camp of letting Shota decide himself whether he could continue or not. The game ended in something like 19 more pitches. Can't say Shota would have done it in 19 pitches, but I'd have let him decide if he had the strength to finish it.

I have to laugh at all the people bent out of shape Craig pulled him. Cubs season is over, there is a non 0 percent chance it causes him an injury down the road. Move on.

No complaints on the app besides how it lays bare the transaction of putting $120 into PTR’s pockets. Will say that on my normal Samsung tv I just use the built in app interface and they don’t have the app in their system, so I have to stream it from the phone app, which is a little annoying. But no real issues beyond that.

I have about 3 Amazon Fire Sticks laying around the house. Does the Fire Stick have the Marquee app?

I already feel pretty dirty having Starlink. I despise Elon.

Don't they blackout games when you are within the market? I'm still fairly new to being back in the Illinois area, so I don't quite understand the blackout rules.
