Really good matchup for Wisdom.  Not a bad one for Paredes either.

Generally looking forward to the meltdown if Herz pitches well.  It's all "trade prosepcts!" until one does well and then people lose their minds.

Officially ded?

Why do the Cubs hold on to chronically injured pitchers and let guys like D.J. Hertz go for nothing!?!

(Am I doing it right?)

I’m old enough to remember when the Cubs Prospect Twitterverse/Prospectlandia was throwing out Chris Sale comps for Herz. And with like a straight face. Now that he’s out of the org, using up an option year and having a successful pre-arb season without being the super mega duper ultra ace all employees owe us consumers he’s entered the realm of Actually…I’m rooting for a good game in which everyone has fun, remembers their time with the sport before imaginary stuff made up by the worst kind of human like money and pre arb got imagined into existence, and Cubs win amirite

I...uh...but...

Gotta disagree about pwis, bertz. The guy is like 40 and offers zero upside for this team. It's time to plug in Busch at 1B full time and managers need to stop their lust for this guy. OMG they are acting like my wife in regards to his hunkiness

Asaad is officially gassed for the season

? One run through 3 innings has him officially gassed?

This game is extra annoying.  I always liked Herz but I get why he was traded.  He always felt like a left-handed Rich Harden to me.  Guys had a tough time hitting him, but he always seemed to have very high pitch counts.

Laboring to throw strikes, pitch count going up, will be out before the end of the 5th inning (again)

60 through 4 IP. Let's see how he does in the 5th

But isn’t that always what he does? I am not suggesting he is anything special. Just saying he looks like he always looks. 69 through 4 is pretty normal to even low for him. He isn’t great. So don’t expect much. Just don’t see his as gassed for the year because of this very normal start by him.

Herz always struck me as a change of scenery type, as in, whatever the Cubs did with him wasn't really sticking and he needed to go somewhere else with a different approach to succeed.

It's clearly worked out for him so far, because I don't think he'd be doing this with the Cubs if they hadn't traded him.
