Z's blister better not be too bad. :(

It sure didn't look good.

Z seems different than most blister pitchers, pop that Blood Blister, cut a joke and hit the mound! He will be fine....

So you are saying he won't pull a Valdez?

Ha, or a Becket...Just a hunch but it will be real hard for the Cubs to convince Z he will not make his next start!

Z for Cy Young...Prior for runner up!

Chicagosports.com"]"It's pretty painful," Garciaparra said. "I've strained my groin before, but I've never gone through anything like this."

No mention of Z's blister. Hopefully no news is good news.

Yahoo"]"I wanted to finish but that was the right decision for the manager,'' Zambrano said. "It's bad right now but I don't think I'll miss my next start.''

Hopefully he's right. And did he really call him "manager"?

I have a feeling that the Cubs can do alright without Nomar. This could be the start of a process that renames the Ewing Theory into the Nomar Theory.

Well, some good news about one of our injured players. Borowski is way ahead of schedule:

Suntimes Article

Injured reliever Joe Borowski has jumped ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from a broken wrist and should be ready to rejoin the Cubs in two to three weeks.

"Maybe a simulated game [next week] and then go out on [rehab] assignment,'' Borowski said. "I'm looking at the beginning of May [to return to the Cubs] if there are no setbacks.''

Hopefully he can get back soon and pitch like he pitched in spring training. Hawkins needs to be moved back to that setup role ASAP.

Bruce Miles says Borowski threw a bullpen session yesterday.

Borowski, who broke his right wrist on March 21, threw from the bullpen mound Wednesday at Busch Stadium, marking the first time since his injury he has been able to throw from the mound on back-to-back days.

He will have an X-ray Friday when the Cubs return to Wrigley Field, and it’s possible he could pitch a simulated game next week. After that, the Cubs could send Borowski out on a minor-league rehab stint, with an eye toward activating him in early to mid-May.

At least that is one good report.

Dusty said the blister was about the size of a dime and was completely gone by the time he got to the mound. They don't think he'll miss a start...hopefully.

By the way, Neifi the Narc was the one who alerted the bench to Z's blister and got him to come out to the mound.

As for Walker, he's spending time in the hot tub to loosen his knee up and then hops on the bike. It's only minor pain right now. His rehab is going well and think it'll be another couple of weeks.

A little more on the blister:

Paul Sullivan"]Carlos Zambrano's blister on his right index finger forced him out of Wednesday night's game with one out to go and Baker said it was the size of a dime. But trainer Mark O'Neal said it shouldn't be a factor and wasn't worried about Zambrano making his next scheduled start Monday against Cincinnati at Wrigley Field. Baker doesn't believe it will be a chronic problem, as it was with former Cub Ismael Valdez.

can we never mention zambrano and ishmael in the same sentence ever again?

If he loses the Beckett Blister Syndrome, you can make a horrible comparison to Kevin Foster for all I care*

*since they are both decent hitters

Cubs.com"] If all goes well, Borowski could throw a simulated game on Wednesday.

Borowski threw a side session on Friday at Wrigley Field, and threw fastballs and sliders off flat ground on Sunday. He will have a throwing session in the bullpen on Monday.

The latest X-rays show calcium buildup on his right wrist, and doctors told him the X-ray won't be completely normal until December.

"I've been very fortunate the last three, four days," said Borowski, who has had no pain or problems with his right wrist. Originally, the Cubs medical staff thought Borowski would not be able to pick up a ball until May 1.

"I told the doctor ... I was going to prove him wrong," Borowski said.

Cubs.com"]Step by step: Joe Borowski threw 45 pitches in the bullpen on Monday and will throw a simulated game on Wednesday.

"Everything's coming along and I haven't had any setbacks," Borowski said.

The Cubs will make a decision on the next phase of his rehab after Wednesday's outing.

"He's feeling pretty good and Larry [Rothschild, pitching coach] said he threw the ball well," Baker said. "He's only thrown a few sliders and Joe said he didn't feel anything."

The good news is that Borowski feels no discomfort at all in his right wrist, which he injured March 21. His shoulder also is strong.

"I've almost forgotten about that," he said about the slight tear in his rotator cuff that sidelined him last season.

"If he's optimistic, feeling good, then we are," Baker said.

I think Chad Fox's career is over :(

No its not. Its on the same track it has always been. Brilliant when healthy, but the health doesn't come often.

But I mean after all that time rehabbing last year, barely making the Cubs as a non-roster invitee, and 19 games into the year he gets hurt again. He's getting old, how much longer does he want to rehab if his elbow just going to fall apart again?
