  1. Henry Rodriguez has been designated for assignment. I'm guessing this is the corresponding move for Cole Gillespie's acquisition.
  2. Then why do you constantly use it like that?
  3. thumb injury, shoulder injury, shoulder injury, nothing, velocity drop Morrison was dealing with a leg injury at the beginning of the year - forget if it was hammy or knee. Knees. He had surgery in the off season. I can't remember if it was on one or both.
  4. My lasting memory of the show is the graphic they put up toward the end when they said the Cubs have only been sold three times in the past century. Weegham in 1916, Tribune in 1981 and the Ricketts trust in 2009. Except they forgot Charles Taft buying the team in 1914 and of course the Wrigley family's ownership from 1921-1981, but you know its easy to overlook sixty years of ownership especially when the team plays in a park named after them. The show just confirmed my hatred of business reporting and T.V. business reporting specifically.
  5. You apparently watched different Muppets than I did growing up.
  6. As one of the few people on the board who's actually attracted to men I'll weigh in: Darwin Barney. GET OUTTA HERE WITH THAT. I'm not saying Barney's a better player, but by god I'd do horribly dirty things to that man if given the chance. Todd Walker not so much.

  8. Pitching abuse was much more widespread than the notion that managers don't really matter. I know I had those conversations with people on the espn board, but those people mostly came here. There were not, however, many of them. I mean, you can disagree all you want; I'm just trying to answer your question. Mostly people simply did not view him as the monster he would become. Yes, I understand there were a lot of ignorant people who couldn't foresee the coming catastrophe, what I'm saying is there had to be somebody else. I was with you, jersey. I was probably around a 2 when Dusty was signed.
  9. Let me tell you it won't just be the women.
  10. The Orioles designated Jake Fox for assignment today to make room for Brian Matusz. link Fox's OPS was .646 in 19 games and 52 PAs this season with 10 games catching, 4 in left and three at first.
  11. Donating the proceeds to JDRF would be a nice touch too.
  12. The Daily Herald ran the same picture with their story. To be fair, it was an error by the photographer and stayed with the photo. Still, it should have been caught by someone by both papers. I can't imagine what process would be in place that would allow a paper to catch this. None. The onus is on the photographer (or an editor at that paper) to alert AP if there is a mistake. Then AP issues a correction alert and resends the photo.
  13. ESPN is reporting that Ryne Sandberg is leaving the Cubs organization after not being named the major league manager and declining to go back to Iowa as manager. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5761212
  14. Mordecai Brown, Tim Belcher, Micheal Young, Al Brazle and Keith Foulke
  15. Counting interim managers Larry's coached under five different people in Chicago.
  16. The AP is reporting that Silva will have his heart examined on Monday and depending on the outcome of the visit might need a cardiac ablation.
  17. I think he was thinking the Angels needed offense more than pitching. He said he thought they should/would flip him for a hitter.
  18. Per the AP Z's been suspended indefinitely
  19. That Buck Showalter agrees? That Lee has a nice butt. Agreed
  20. For some reason I have a fairly vivid memory of watching him pitch against Atlanta while I was in a Dick's Sporting Goods in south Jersey, and he was decent. I always remember the shutout he threw against the Dodgers in '99.
  21. But those discussions inevitably devolve into bickering and name calling. What purpose does that serve? So certain topics aren't even allowed to be talked about? That's not what i meant. I simple asked what purpose letting a thread devolve into bickering and name calling serves.

  23. Can we just lock this thread since it's now woefully off topic?
