Hopefully this one will catch on like last years, execpt with a LOT less posts. Format will run like last years (for reference: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=10323 - Regular, http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=10323 - Premium)

I didn't want to make this thread so soon, but I was planning on doing it eventually. If mods want to sticky this it would be great, or if you want to wait until Opening Day that would be fine too.

I'll start with a link that was already posted in another thread about Wood leaving today's game early.

Whether we like it or not injuries will happen (they do for all teams), hopefully just not as bad last year. Therefore I have stickied this thread. Like last year the sticky will be removed at the end of the season.

And the rest of the posts have been split into rants. This is a needed thread and it has worked in the past, so treat it well.

It's just a crying shame that we've already had to see it started..... :(

Why cant they send the doctor out to Arizona instead of the other way around....would have made millions of people feel so much better

I think in one place I read that the doctor had other people to see in Chicago, so it made more sense to send Wood to him.

The doctor did have other patients.

Cubs.com"]Mark O'Neal, the Cubs' athletic trainer, said that the tests and the trip to see Gryzlo were strictly precautionary -- and to accommodate Gryzlo, who had several patients to see on Thursday in Chicago. It was easier to send Wood there than to have the doctor fly to Arizona.

Looks like Wood is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday.

MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood will take the weekend off in hopes of getting the inflammation in his right shoulder to calm down before he resumes throwing on Monday.

Wood, the Cubs' Opening Day starter, rejoined the team on Friday after flying to Chicago on Thursday to be examined by the team orthopedic specialist.

Let's not go down that path again.

We already went through it with Prior last year.

And now possibly this year too. (Getting down on my knees to pray it is nothing serious)

So, with Wood and Prior already hurting, any guesses how long this stupid thread will be by Octorber? :x

They just said on the Sox/Cubs telecast that Prior was going to miss a spring training start. Doh. He has "elbow inflamation" which he claims is different from the elbow inflamation he claimed not to have for much of the first half of last season...

I'm not confident.

Hey, I tried to warn you guys, but noooooooo, let's just sticky this thread, what a great idea.

Prior is hurt and it is your fault, way to go.

I quit, we're cursed and not because of this thread.

If we're not cursed explain how the Trib Co gets lucked into its most talented team in 90 some years and gets teased with a 3-1 lead in the NLCS and then disintegrates into this mess

I want to die. This is horrible. Its just like last year. Only THIS time we've lost BOTH Prior AND Wood in ST. Well, not officially, but im not confident at this point. I would LOVE to see both of them make their next start. But ugh, this is really depressing. :shaking:

Kerry felt good off the mound today but Mark still felt some discomfort from the inflammation when he threw from flat ground, but that's not bad news:

Cubs.com"]Wood, who was projected as the Cubs' Opening Day starter, threw about 30 pitches off the mound and threw everything in his arsenal, pitching coach Larry Rothschild said Wednesday.

"Basically, there were no problems at all and he felt good," Rothschild said of the right-hander, who was 8-9 with a 3.72 ERA in 22 starts last year.

.................

"There's still a little discomfort there," Rothschild said. "It's considerably better, which is basically what we expected. We'll let the medication keep working. It's a four- or five-day process to get the inflammation out. We'll let that take its course and keep monitoring it and see where we go once he's gotten all the medication in him."

Prior, 24, is taking anti-inflammatory medication. This was the first time he had thrown since he played catch on Saturday.

Rothschild remained optimistic that both pitchers would be ready by the first week of the season.

"When you see Kerry throw the way he did today, you can start looking at drawing up a plan," Rothschild said. "When Mark gets to that point, we'll know more but there's no timetable as far as that's concerned with either one of them until we see them on the mound facing hitters again. Then I can pretty much map it out."

Well HOF Peter Gammons (:smokin:) claimed on Sportscenter last night that Dusty was pretty confidenant that both Prior and Would would be ready for the start of the season but that he would just move his rotation to have Z start the opener and Wood ready for the home opener

Yeah, last season they were also confident that Wood and Prior wouldn't miss much time. I'll believe it when I see it.
