This is on the offense. Unbelievably poor showing. Yet another game that was right there for the Cubs to win but they couldn’t help but blow it with poor relief pitching, terrible situational hitting and inexplicable unforced errors like Amayas kicked ball.

I’m sorry but you can’t consistently shoot yourself in the foot for 2 months and call it a cold spell. Maybe I’m wrong and there’s a 2023 like hot stretch in there but I think this is just the 2024 Cubs identity

One of the worst major league teams ever assembled. Great job Tommy Boy and Ded Jed.  Fire everyone and get more competent people.

Hoyer deserves to get canned over the construction of this roster. Absolute garbage. This isn’t a “slump” or “cold spell” this is a crap team

Continuing to lose to mediocre teams. The reds and rays have not been good this year. This team is cooked

4-6 to start the 25 game stretch against sub .500 teams with all 4 of the wins coming by 1 or 2 runs

God I hate Hoyer so much.

If you build a boring team that is good, that is perfectly fine, but boring and bad is an awful combination.  What compelling reason is there to watch this team?

If this doesn’t spell the end of this whole neris as the closer no matter what thing…between that and tauchman being seemingly entrenched at the lead off spot, I’m not very impressed by counsell so far this year.

none, that's why I'm seriously hoping they just completely fall apart so I'll lose interest

It happened last year and it was cool not caring about them. Then they went on that stupid run

At least if they keep losing Hoyer won’t keep his job. #silverlining

You're far more confident of that than I am.

he's going nowhere, I just want them to lose because I'm right on the threshold of not caring about this season at all and I can feel the sweet release.

Is Jed under any pressure to win? His recent interviews don’t really give that indication.

they’re in the fourth-ish season of rebuilding with a $225 mil payroll and they’re in last place. in no universe should his job be safe.

Christ, this was a winnable game. Fire Neris straight into the sun.

Who else ya got?

Neris isn't great, but he might still be the best of the bad options.  They can try Leiter, but that just means Neris pitches in the 7th or 8th instead, so what does that really change?

I've mentioned it several times, but maybe pulling Taillon after 6 with 91 pitches, when you know you have a horsefeathers bullpen, wasn't the move.

Tauchman is 10th in the NL in OBP.

I'm not sold on this logic.  Any GM has to operate under a budget, and ownership sets that budget.  What makes Jed so special?
