Man if Imanaga starts falling apart, Hoyer apologists will have nothing to yap about.

This seems like a weird thing to be excited about but you do you

Personally I’m excited about Shota despite this start.

Jed is still a subpar GM though.

I don’t get how you interpreted excitement from that post, but knock yourself out

This makes no sense.  The Cubs went out of their way to essentially skip Imanaga in the rotation, yet the are willing to let him burn innings in a game that is already out of hand and he doesn't have it.  If you're trying to preserve the guy, at least be consistent.

I get what you’re saying, but they probably are more concerned about limiting his number of starts vs pitches/start based off his prior usage in Japan.

Regarding the 10 days rest, I'll throw out a few cliches:

"It's a marathon, not a sprint" and "Okay to lose the battle if you win the war.".

Dumb, I know, but he wasn't going to carry a sub-1 ERA the whole season. All starters have a blow up game or two (or more) every season. I'd rather he get an extra rest now and take a beat down if he means he's fresh later in the season.  Was 10 days a bit much? Maybe. Could they have pushed him back a few days instead of skipping his start? Perhaps. But there's still a lot of baseball to play (pitch) in the season.
