I'm not sure why the Cubs didn't come up with this "let's just not let the other team get hits" plan earlier. Frankly, it's quite the ingenious plan. I'd suggest implementing it more often.

Man I wish Brown was more stretched out/the Cubs actually gave him some run support so that we could live with a single mistake.

I really don’t think we can afford to keep him in the game any longer, certainly not long enough to finish it off.

Then again a fatigued Brown is probably better than anyone in the Cubs pen

Not sure if youre being sarcastic But Lotta SP of the past would laugh at that ( pitch count)

Yeah, I am saying that pitch count sucks. There is no significant difference between Brown being on 93 pitches through 7 innings and potentially finishing it out at 110-115 pitches. But you just know the bullpen will come in and we will lose 2-1.

They might send him back out there by the looks of it

Miguel Amaya has 2 hits! When is the last time a Cubs catcher got 2 hits in a game?

How about in a week ?

On a night you get 2 hits from the Catcher,  nobody else wants to hit 🙄🙄🙄

Brown is coming out for the 8th..

Edit: I thought JD said he was coming back out

Yan had 3 hits the week of May 5-11

Amaya had 2 hits May 12-18

Cubs catchers had 31 hits on the year before tonight

Luis Arraez has 35 hits in 21 games as a member of the Padres

Lmao the cubs are really gonna try to win another game 1-0.

well this is a win win for me. Either the Cubs get a really needed victory or I get to update my “blown leads in the 8th or later” stat.

This club has had their offensive struggles in a lot of years after 2016, even the following year/s. But this offense is somehow even worse.

I think pitch count as a tool for preventing arm injuries is probably more meaningful in the aggregate rather than looking at one individual game.  I tend to agree that a guy throwing 110 pitches versus 90 for one single start likely doesn't make much difference.  You just don't want to do it on a regular basis.
