That sequence shows 2 of the Cubs biggest flaws:

1) Our catchers hit like pitchers

2) The Cubs refusal to use Vazquez means that the Cubs have a 4 man bench.  1 bench player was already used, so you're left with Wisdom, Madrigal and Gomes left.  If you PH Wisdom or Madrigal (neither are really attractive options to bring a run home from 3rd with 2 outs), you're also burning Gomes, meaning that if the luckiest pitcher in baseball this year fails to hold a 1 run lead, you're left with just 1 bench player for extra innings (2 if you count Vazquez and I'm not sure Counsell does)

Kind of the Cubs luck lately.  He's 2-4 with the 2 outs being the times he had the bases loaded.
