Sucks that he got 1 bad call but it doesn't excuse this

Absolutely. Coming anywhere close to a swing on that first pitch is borderline malpractice

This is when baseball drives me nuts. They’re gonna get hot again offensively. It could be today, it could be a month from now. But because it could be today, every day you hope and expect to be the day when they get their horsefeathers together

Horrific stuff from Dansby there. Feels like if a pitcher can hit that spot consistently he's just never going to touch it.

Happ struck out without being thrown a single pitch in the zone

The weak swing on the 2-2 pitch to Happ was, IMO, a result of the bad call on the 2-1 pitch. Had that been called correctly, as a ball, I think Happ walks on the next pitch.

He has been very bad. But why is he being singled out? The entire team (except for Tauchman) isn’t hitting. Should they all never play baseball again? He has had 20 AB so far. While I am concerned about him and if he will ever hit, we are talking about 20 AB.

Cubs need to shake up this batting order some...

I would move PCA to the 2 hole and drop Tauchman to 3, mainly because PCA can at the very least sacrifice Hoerner over or bunt his way on, and Tauchman can get more AB with a runner in scoring position.

I'd  also move Amaya up to 5 to hit between Happ and Busch.

Morel 9th, take some pressure off of him to be an RBI guy, looks like he pressing to make up for Bellinger and Suzuki being out of middle of lineup.

Hoerner,  PCA, Tauchman, Happ, Amaya,  Busch, Swanson, DH, Morel

He wasn't good last year either.. he's just not a good major league hitter at this point in his career.  He shouldn't be handed 4 ABs a game just because he's a lefty

Probably because he’s never hit and has looked particularly awful attempting to. Not enough of a sample size to call his career dead but it is not trending very well at all

Not sure of Bellinger and Suzuki timetable to return but, I think with this being April/May and they're winning games, this is likely a make or break for Mervis and the Cubs.

Glad you are not the manager. That line up sucks. (No disrespect)

I'm going to go ahead and call his career dead and if I'm wrong I'm wrong

Why?

Is the one they've been going with better ?

Basically just dropping Morel,  and moving Amaya up.

Plugging PCA into the 2 hole between 2 of their best hitters so far can actually help him get better pitches and utilize his bunting ability and speed.
