Just looking for a little levelheadedness when one inning in a bullpen game in these conditions goes sideways (aided by some very uncharacteristic defense), but hey, relitigating 2023 and the offseason decisions works too.

I know calling out negativity in game threads is your thing* but I really don't understand what you want to see from a game thread in that situation.  Game threads have never and will never be what you seem to think they should be.

*ok unfair to call it your sole thing since I generally appreciate your contributions elsewhere, but definitely remember these discussions with you last year.

Yeah trust me, I’m hoping it’s out of my system soon. In the same way I don’t really understand how people can get so worked up about game 6, or any game taking place in a snowglobe, I’m aware that my thing is getting similarly tired.

to maybe clarify, no issue in calling out almonte for walking multiple people in a 6 run game or Nico trying to play hero ball or whatever. It’s the projecting out of individual bad performances as some overarching fatal flaw or proof of a failed offseason that seems unnecessary to me. Tom Ricketts (who, again, sucks) didn’t give us enough money to spend on the bullpen and therefore we are doomed to live like this all year? Probably don’t go check to see what the astros $95m reliever did yesterday (or Sunday). It’s baseball, and early april baseball at that. Leads will be blown by our pitching, leads will be erased by our offense.

He is, ostensibly, a super utility player capable of playing decent defense at a number of positions, being a high percentage basestealer, and being a lefty bat with juuuust enough power to keep pitchers from throwing him meatballs and daring him to do something with them.

The tools and the stats all suggest the above to be true. But I still have trouble buying that narrative.

I’ve never liked the term “super utility” but can at least understand when used for the right guys.
this is not the right guy.

I just don't see how they get this one in, even if the weather clears up. The field is going to be a complete mess since it's been snowing and raining all day, and the warning track is going to be a minefield for the unwary.

Completely rebuilt field should have a great drainage system.

A little disappointed the bullpen couldn’t hold up a get Big Ben his first MLB victory. But they got the win eventually, and Brown will get more opportunities.

giving up a lot of hard contact to the lefties

Not sure his minors splits but that 12-6 curve should help him with the splits.

His curve really is something else. He's consistently breaking them off with 40+ inches of vertical break with <=3 inches of horizontal. A true 12-6 hammer curveball. Oh, and he's doing that at 85 miles an hour.

Love it.  This is why he gets tons of K's in the minors, and MLB hitters won't hit it very well either.

Yep. Brown is clearly still a work in progress, but man, he's a pure unicorn. We're so used to "funk" being associated with guys like Imanaga, who throw like 92 mph, or "below average", we forget that guy who throw 97mph can be funky too.

He kinda reminds me of a giraffe.  In a good way I guess?

I'm a dork. It's a 20-sided dice. Like in nerdy ass games like D&D. I...uh...I own a few.

I hit a double off of a former MLB hitter last summer off of his fastball.

I'm not humble bragging. I felt like I needed to say the least dorky thing about me to build me back up because I crave validation.

U get Baldur's Gate 3?

Morel threw the ball wild because of the wet grass.  Yes, that's it.

He had time to set and throw on that play, which is what he should have done. Throwing on the run and off balance should be saved for the players that don't make a lot of errors.

Credit where it's due! That game wouldn't have been played roughly a decade ago before they completely overhauled the drainage.
