So Caleb measured out at just over 6’1 which is great. I assumed he’d be closer to 6’0. Alleviates a lot of concern about his height, though 6’1 still seems to be slightly below average for a QB.

Yeah, that's a pleasant surprise, although a lot of people who had seen him in-person estimated that he'd be a true 6-1.  It wouldn't have been a dealbreaker if he was shorter, but it's nice that he isn't.

Agreed. Now is the time, especially if you reset the QB contract clock.

Pay Jaylen. Get aggressive towards whoever of Pittman, Ridley, Evans and Higgins actually hits FA. Snag another FA IOL, I especially like Cushenberry from Denver if he's not re-signed.

Get it all out of the way before the draft.

Take Evans off the board. He resigned with TB.

It's smokescreen season, but I believe the reports that Pittsburgh is content running it back with Pickett.

Atlanta seems to be connected to a half-dozen QBs, and I still think it's a bad fit, but I could buy them being interested in fields.

I still think Mystery Team as a backup is where he ends up

Me too, which also means Bears fans will be disappointed on the return in a trade.

I could see the Vikings trading for Fields if they lose Cousins

Does Poles do the trade within the division though?

I just can’t see it happening but crazier horsefeathers has happened. I think it’s more likely that Minnesota takes a McCarthy or Nix in the draft than trades for Fields.

I’m not sure I believe that Pittsburgh is content with Pickett. Just can’t see that being true.

I cannot see how they attempt to justify to their fan base another failed bears qb

This is a complete aside since its not the case here and you should take this as a compliment but every time I see I have an alert that you quoted one of my posts I consciously think in my head "ok what did I say that was stupid this time?" 😅

Well, I meant them more as the “Mystery Team”, but if everyone has truly seen enough of Justin in Chicago that’s he’s being traded away to make room for the next QB, I don’t know why Poles would hold back. If he feared Justin succeeding in Minnesota, you’d have to wonder why he’d trade him in the first place.

Theoretically, it would make sense if you think Fields is good but Caleb is great, so you draft the great guy and trade the good guy. In that situation I’m not sure he’d entertain a trade in the division. But he might think fields sucks and in that case would be happy to trade him to a rival.

Or he just thinks the step up to Caleb will more than mitigate any success Fields  may have against Chicago. A trade partner is better than no trade partner (or less return). I feel that’s as valid as any really, and why I wouldn’t fear trading Fields with in the division

Do we have to pay extra to get a division rival to take fields? I'd be down to ship like a 3rd to Minnesota if they promised to make him qb1

That’s a terrible idea, Minnesota would use that 3rd to draft the next Tom Brady

Poles likes draft picks so much, I'm assuming he plans to trade down from 9 and get some extra picks

If I had to bet, I would bet that, too.  It will be really annoying if one of those top 3 receivers is there at 9 and they do trade down (even if it might end up being the right move).  I just really want blue chip offensive players.

That second tier of WRs is still really legit.  Like Thomas and Mitchell basically had perfect combine testing numbers

You're not necessarily foregoing impact if you end up with WR4 or WR5 this year.

Yeah, I have heard this WR draft is deep, which is partly why I said it may end up being the right decision.  I just feel like the top 3 seem really likely to be very good, whereas it seems like every year there are WR's that shoot up the draft because they test well, or run extremely fast and bust.  I know Thomas Jr. has been thought of highly for a while, but I hadn't heard of Mitchell before his test results from the weekend (I also don't pay much attention to college football, so what do I know).  But also, I think I saw someone else reference their super high athletic scores and then mention that while they scored super high, they didn't do all of the tests, so it might not mean as much.
