If we come away with Ohtani and Yamamoto, I swear I am going to buy a latex gimp suit and strut down the street.

Can Ohtani play first base as well, while recovering from TJ?

also, I hate that one free agent, even one as amazing as Ohtani, holds up all of baseball.

Really not unusual that he isn’t signed yet. Everyone is anxious waiting on him, but it isn’t like he is taking unusually long to decide. Yes, he is holding up the market and that might hurt the team he eventually picks, but he has to do this however it is most comfortable to him. Also, he really isn’t holding up all of baseball. Moves can be made. Chapman can sign, Cease can be traded, etc… We just have to realize this is a life decision for him. One thing I will say is if it was such an easy forgone conclusion he was going to stay in LA it should have been done already. The fact that this is a rough choice for him gives me encouragement that he might actually pick someone other than the Dodgers. And it is isn’t the Dodgers I really like the Cubs chance.

I think the likelihood of this is close to zero.  I think Yamamoto is Plan B.

He sounds like a fine Plan B. I wouldn’t complain.

Absolutely. If we land Yamamoto for 5-7 years, I’ll be ecstatic.

If USA Today is to be believed, Hader is asking for a deal of 5 years 100M+ and Bellinger is looking for 250M. There is no way in hell I'd give Bellinger 250M. 175M? Sure if he's going to play CF, but there's no way I'm giving him 250M.

I hope the Blue Jays/Ohtani stuff means they're out.  At minimum I think it'd back up the idea that the wining & dining phase is done and we're just waiting for a decision?

I would think it'd be a Xander Bogaerts deal where he gets a silly long deal to reduce the AAV.

I’ll be absolutely stoked to give Bellinger like 9/225 after striking out on all the big ones this offseason and watch him turn into a pumpkin.

Feels like your typical "this is what Boras is going to tell the media" thing without it being actually what he expects to get.

Yeah, I think we're in the end game spot. Probably a little tweaking and moving things around and then deciding. I'm hopeful for a choice in the next few days.

Welcome to the MLB off season where this happens every year and will continue to happen in the future.

Yeah I really hope they don't sign Bellinger because he's the only guy left.

Still not as bad as signing Chapman would be. He's supposedly going to get 6 figures and I don't even know that I could convince myself to want him on a 2/40 deal.

Why not for 2 years?  He's been a pretty good player consistently throughout his entire his career and has stayed mostly healthy.  He'll probably hit better outside of Oakland/Toronto too.
