They’re beat. It’s over.

Eh. If they can limp into Milwaukee still tied, they have a shot. Maybe getting out of Atlanta, and with the Cubs fan energy in Milwaukee, they can bounce back and put one more mini run together.

I know I'm probably being over-optimistic, as all signs point to this being over, but I'm not completely ruling them out yet.

They really look like they have no urgency whatsoever.  There is a look a boxer gets when they have nothing left and 90% of this roster has that look.

As hopeless as this all feels, all it takes is a Mets win tonight and then Cubs still have a reasonable shot. If the Marlins win, then it becomes highly unlikely.

Pretty much this. The only thing still giving the Cubs hope, is that the Marlins are terrible too.

I suspect today's the day we mercifully just get our ass kicked but Miami loses in some stupid way to try to convince us that we might stumble ass over tea kettle into the playoffs.

This post looks fairly promising right now

Man, Candelario has been really disappointing after that hot first week with the Cubs.

Yeah personnel wise, I can’t really think of a decision made that yielded good results, besides fixing their own mistakes with their early season cuts and I guess Wicks. One good week of Jeimer and that’s about it.

Rather see Morel get ABs who can change the game with a swing than Candy who has been pretty unproductive with the Cubs.

The front office will blame it on his injury, they’ll say he was still playing with some back issues but was feeling good enough to play.

Candy and Stroman were terrible decisions. They were both struggling prior to injury and then we just throw them back out there with no rehab in the middle of a must win series?
