I'm sure Ohtani is looking at this train wreck and thinking, "YES, this is where I want to be!!!"

I mean he’s been playing for the Angels. We’re a much better spot than that.

I’m sure he’s bummed he’s not playing. Doubt he’s thinking about other teams.

He already cleaned out his locker. He’s a foot and a half out the door. I’m sure he’s already contemplating his future.

I don't think it really matters whether he'd consider the Cubs. I doubt they are anywhere near the top of his list and I doubt he'd turn them down if the money was right. But I guarantee the Cubs won't outbid everybody else for him. They'll hang out in the weeds and preach smart spending while they avoid the tax line like the plague.

I agree. This idea people won’t choose the cubs is actually ridiculous. If the Cubs make the best offer they will sign anyone they want. The issue is, they probably won’t make the top offer. If Ohtani doesn’t come here it is because the Cubs were not the best offer. Which is most likely what will happen.

Look around, though. Do you think teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, or Mets are super-appealing right now?

In the end, it will come down to money.

So with a loss today and a Reds win the Cubs are out of a playoff spot right? Another must win game.

Reds or Marlins win

Historically, I’d rather role the dice with Boston or New York

The Yankees, sure... but have you been following the Red Sox lately? They just scapegoated Bloom and will be building a new front office when the real problem is ownership.

the marlins obliterated the braves this weekend. pretty funny

The Reds lost at least.

But either way, the Marlins win means that if the Cubs lose tonight they will end the night out of the playoffs

PCA on the bench again. Ross really loves him some Tauchman, looking forward to seeing this clown get fired.

Yea, he’s not getting fired. Not a fan of him though.

We can't score any damn runs anyway, so let's make sure we make our defense worse too

So Buster Olney hasn't actually watched the Cubs for the past 2 weeks, right?

I mean they did score 12 runs that one game against the Rockies.

Oh wait it was 12 runs total in 3 games. Nevermind then.

Baseball Tonight pregame show - "The Cubs keep swinging it."

It seems like they planned their pregame angle a few weeks ago.
