Good to just be done with that Diamondbacks series so the Cubs can move on to a new opponent. Tonight's game could be interesting, as Jordan Wicks is going to pitch in Coors Field. You never know what to expect from a young guy pitching there for the first time.

Hoyer likely thinks PCA would slide in for Tauchman as he's been absolute trash lately. But knowing Ross, PCA will probably get one PA a week against the other teams closer.

Yeah interesting series with Wicks and Assad both getting their first taste of Coors and Taillon going in the other game.  Others that are smarter than I can comment on how their pitches will or won't be affected by the altitude.

It’s funny because seemingly the second one of these yooths is put into a new position they’ll end up in many times if lucky and doesn’t crush it, immediately the story becomes that Cubs and Ross are trusting them too much too soon 

 

Agree, I didnt understand the complaints about Ross sticking with his guys.  He spent half the season trying to find a way for Mastrobuoni to succeed (though has pretty much never used him since he's been back) and like you pointed out has given plenty of young guys opportunities to succeed.  Wisdom was a starter in April and now has barely played over the last month.  He benched Seiya for a week when he was struggling hard, he benched Morel after struggling hard and is now working him back into the lineup.  Yes the offense has been slumping but other than Canario there isnt really a ton of enticing options on the bench who should be playing over these guys.  Canario situation is odd but they were clear from day 1 that he's not going to play much, so not really a matter of Ross being stubborn and sticking with his guys.

I'll complain about Ross with the best of them, but don't really see the issue here.

Baseball is baseball but outside of the two Atlanta series, they play bad teams (Mets twice, Cards and Pirates).

Braves and Phillies tied at 8 going into the 10th.  Phillies scored 2 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up on a Bryce Harper HR. Damn

Braves win after scoring 2 in the 10th.  Cubs are 1.5 games behind Philly.  Philly is 4 games clear of a playoff spot.
