Too drunk to understand why people might be upset that the team blew a ninth inning lead? Don’t be dense.

I mean, sure. Big picture it’s good to split. But circumstances change and we had a game in the bank and were two outs from a second win. It’s not that hard to understand.

I dont think anyone was that bad either.  He was jumping on someone for pointing out Alzolay blew back to back save opportunities like that poster was suggesting Adbert be DFAed.   Just some venting from a gut punch loss.

And I don't think anyone was suggesting that Alzolay has been anything but great this year.   But there have been signs recently that he isn't quite as sharp as he has been for a majority of the season.  Is it fatigue or just a random down period? Who knows?

My frustration is more that the complaints are like ‘oh this dude is terrible’ or ‘eff this dude who has been completely reliable all year’ rather than like ‘man, baseball can be really dumb’. This is a super likeable team that has outperformed pretty much every expectation. And at any sign of trouble it’s just this complete doom. Game one of the braves series, the Mets series, the royals series, the brewers series. Give them some credit.

Like the original comment was talking about how adbert had blown two straight games when the first one of those games was a game where he was the winning pitcher. He got called in with the bases loaded and hit a dude. And then pitched a scoreless ninth to win. But yeah, let’s phrase it ‘he’s blown two straight saves’.

The cubs seem ‘organizationally better’ under Jed than Theo.  They don’t have nearly the talent that the 15 or 16 team did but they win so many games by taking the extra base, putting the ball in play, having a strong pitching infrastructure and philosophy, strong clubhouse culture and no player drama.  They squeeze every bit out of their guys, whether that’s Smylee, Tauchman, Belly.

Being patient has been hard but this team will soon be set up like the rays/dodgers

Reread it sober in the morning. Literally one guy had a bad comment - the one you mentioned - and factually it's a true statement. A couple people simply said that Adbert stunk tonight or didn't have it (can't argue there). Tonight was like a 2 on a 1-10 scale of overreactions.

I’m confident all of them will hit again this year. Well maybe not Tauchman but the rest. I’d just like to see it soon. I knew Swanson was streaky but I didn’t think he’d have entire months with a sub .500 OPS.  Candelarios slump is much shorter and he’s still walking but 2-29 is pretty bad. Hope he works out of it quickly.  Morel mostly just looks lost up there and it’s upsetting but I’m sure he’ll figure it out at some point

I wonder if Ross will use Canairo to play CF or DH over the weekend.

Alright fine came in a little hot. Still think we all would have happily taken a split going into yesterday.

100%. But the way that game unfolded, you can’t fault anyone for being frustrated. Basically this:

get some crazy good pitching out of the guys that had been struggling and then have Alzolay struggling in 9th..

Bats could of blown this game open in the first 2 innings and got nothing

The Reds starter should’ve been knocked out of the game in the 3rd or 4th. Then the bats started first pitch swinging and let him off the hook.

And yet, somehow, Cuas, Smyly, and Wesneski, against all odds, got them through 7 with a 2-1 lead. Couldn’t the sketch the pitching performance in a bullpen game/game 2 of a DH out any better. So losing after all that is going to feel like a gut punch.

That said, the cubs gained ground yesterday on a team in front of them and knocked two games off the schedule with no ground lost against a team behind them. Not to mention the hope that the solid relief performances from guys outside the circle of trust can carry over to future games, taking the load off the main three guys. Big picture, successful day! Small picture, kick in the nuts!
