…sure but there were other options out there. Perhaps guys like Wesneski or Wicks are not ideal to throw into a playoff race but either is a guy with an ERA over 10 the last 3 months

6 days ago this dude gave up 9 baserunners and 4 runs in 2.2 IP.  Today so far 1 baserunner and 0 runs in 2 IP. 
 

maybe he’s well rested from being pulled early last time out

Wonder if hoyer will buck up and release smyly with another year to go on his contract. So many bad contracts handed out by hoyer.

This has to be the end of Smyly for this year.  Put him on the DL or stash him in the pen, but he can't start another game. Try to figure things out in the offseason to get something from him next year, but now is not the time.

I remember seeing some forfeit lineups under Maddon and Dusty... right now it seems like a forfeit lineup every time Smyly starts

The start before that he gave up 2 hits and 0 runs in 6 innings.

Agreed. Can’t let him start. Bring up ANYONE. Wicks, Brown, Horton or start Wesnecki. Just can’t use Smyly. Maybe bring each of those other guys up for 2 starts and rotate them. I know they are worried about innings. But maybe give them major league innings and limit them in the minors. They have to do something.
