How could you just start someone warming up when they load the bases? Stupid managing by Rossy.

You did see the hits, right? A broken bat double and a pop-up just out of Bellinger's reach?  I'm not gonna blame Fulmer (or Ross) for those.

Three runs is a pretty safe lead against this Tigers offense. That tack-on run was important.

Well this certainly didn’t age well. And it’s only been 15 minutes.

Maybe,  just maybe Jed should have gotten a reliever at the deadline

He did. Just happens to be a very ordinary reliever.

Fulmer is mad inconsistent, I'd keep him out of all high leverage situations

We don't have enough high leverage relievers we can trust.  It's really just Alzolay, Merryweather, Leiter and sometimes Fulmer.  He has to pitch in that spot out of necessity

I dont get how on August 1st, you decide to stay as is and go for it but don't upgrade the biggest weakness which was pitching/bullpen.

Ross is gonna be one batter too late with pulling Fulmer and saving this game

The first two hits were smoked line drives.

Yeah they are getting overused to death. Hoyer needs to bring up some new arms to get a look at, don't get the point of keeping relievers around that Ross only feels like using during blowouts.

The good news we didn’t fall behind.

The bad news we have to face Greene, Torkleson, and Carpenter in the 9th after we don’t score.

With a tired Alzolay most likely

Fulmer has allowed 7 runs since May prior to today. And it’s not like a 3 run lead vs the Tigers in the 8th inning is some crazy high leverage spot.

It took most Cubs fans like 3 months of good pitching to start to trust fulmer again and now I think it will take 3 more months

Are other teams comfortable going to their 5th and 6th best relievers more often?  This strikes me as less of a failure of the bullpen and a function of the rotation hanging on and putting more work on the pen while the offense stays in games enough to keep leverage high without putting it out of reach as often as we like.

He had been quite good for the past 2 months. I have no problem with him being used there

Let see how he does after a couple days off first...

Honestly I think its more of out of the 4 relievers we trust, Cubs fans probably only trust 2 of them (Alzolay and Leiter)  Maybe 3
