Bullpen and offense keeps doing its job, rotation had to be better.

Steele gave up 3 ER over 5 1/3 innings against the best offense in baseball.

Saturday was a bullpen day, there really wasn't a starter.

Friday, Hendricks had one bad inning.

The Cubs played the the Braves..

The Reds got the Nats

Brewers got the Pirates

Giants got 2 vs the A’s

Phillies got the Royals.

Marlins got the Rangers

Dbacks got the Twins

The only one we didn’t gain ground on was the Phillies. Crazy!!

Strength of schedule really does not mean as much as people want it to mean.

After today's game, here is the Cubs record against teams:

  • Above .500:  29-39
  • Below .500:  29-15

It's not everything, but it isn't nothing either.

We most likely won't win the World Series this year, but it is awesome to have team that generally has a chance to win most games.

  • Named the Phillies, Angels and Astros: 1-11
  • Named something else: 57-33

That's not enough games...

That Braves lineup is a gauntlet though.  1-9 no easy outs.

One could say the same about the Cubs lineup at this point, particularly with Amaya in the lineup.

We do have some depth to our lineup like them, but don't have quite the punch imo.  Not a slight on the Cubs.  That Braves lineup is as good as I've seen in a long time.

The depth is similar, but they have Acuna and Olson.

I agree with you. But, that said, still great to get 1 series with the Braves out of the way and gain 2 games on the Reds and 1 on Milw while they were playing at home against teams they should beat. Cubs need to keep it going. Can’t have a let up. Nice series!
