Let's get this to 9 in a row. I received a free $10 bet from Caesars prior to the white sox series and have been letting it ride each game.  My account is up to $245. If the Cubs eclipse the record of 26 games I will be very rich.

Morel in LF. No Happ even though he’s pretty hot right now. Odd day for an off day imo.

I guess if you’re going to give him an off day it’s best to do it against a lefty.

He has actually been doing much better against lefties. And he is better against lefties than Morel. Guess they just want to give him a day.

Cubs are in the middle of a 16 game in a row stretch so guys will sporadically get days off. What’s weird is that after this 16 games in a row, the Cubs have 3 off days in the span of 8 days.

Well Happ has crushed LHP in the month of July. He has a 138 wRC+ against them. Morel is a reverse split guy. He’s absolutely brutal against LHP. I disagree that it’s a good day for Happ to have an off day because it’s a LHP on the mound. I do, however, understand that people need off days and you can only play what you have. If todays game has no bearing on what happens at the deadline, then fine. Jed’s words were specifically that he’s waiting until “the 11th hour.” Presumably that could have changed and he’s buying regardless, but I had that in mind with my post.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am fired up for today. I’m going to sit in my pool chair and listen to Pat and Ron and drink a few PBR tall boys.

If Happ needs a day off, I’m sitting him against a lefty. I’m not letting 32 PA in July dictate that. However, if the argument is we need all hands on deck today, then yea I can but into that. But if you’re sitting Happ, sitting him against a lefty has been the play for a better part of his career.

Right. That wasn’t my point, but yes you’re right. If Happ needs an off day, it should be against a lefty. I’m saying he’s hot right now. Against lefties and righties. When Happ gets hot, he can carry a team for 2-3 week stretches. We’ve seen it time and time again with him. If Jed knows what he wants to do and the outcomes of today and tomorrow don’t matter, then fine give him an off day. I was taking his “11th hour” comment from just recently at face value, which would make this an absolutely weird day to give Ian an off day.
