Listen, credit to Golson on this: I have been scouring twitter assuming (because he was using screen grabs mostly) that his tweet about Judge was doctored/photoshopped to make it look like he called it when he didn't. But twitter advanced search finds this:

Which is the original tweet. Hours before Morosi and Rosenthal. I don't know what this guy does or doesn't know. I'm not claiming him to be real. But I was surprised that.

Probably flying commercial to avoid yesterday’s nonsense.

PTR would only purchase a coach ticket on Spirit Airlines anyway

Its not like an aircraft is required to disclose its destination at the time of departure. He could easily just take off headed northwest and not tell anyone where he is going, or directly lie about where the destination is and cancel the flight plan when he gets close to chicago.

For the most part this guy seems pretty darn fake with 90 % of his breaking stories completely wrong. So I can't really convince myself to buy into it. On the other hand I don't really understand why he'd be doubling down this morning and claim Ohtani's on the way to Chicago when he could just wait this out and claim his guess was right if the Cubs eventually sign him. But I don't really understand these people so who knows. Something to watch for today I guess.

Yeah, I'd guess this guy is full of it. Probably got lucky on Judge, more than assuredly.

Yep, saw that too. Morosi/Rosenthal didn’t have it until the next morning at 7am ish. And they were considered ‘first.’

Levine was talking Bellinger on the Score this AM. Says now that the Yanks are out it leaves the Cubs and Mariners interested in him. Mentioned signing Hoskins to a pillow contract then Belli shifts to 1B if PCA works out when Hoskins leaves in a year.

Trying to remember the timeline but there was a decent gap between Arson Judge and the news that the Yankees resigned him predicting the Yankees isn’t surprising though not sure how he nailed the contract.

it’s possible that people like this involved in sports gambling hear rumors and stuff from their Vegas contacts and some turn out to be legit sourced while most end up being rumors that end up not being true which explains the low hit rate but occasionally nailing one.

Could be. With Ohtani, I would be floored if anyone in gambling was hearing anything, however. This is arguably the most secretive FA recruitment we've ever seen, especially in social media world.

My guess is that he got lucky on Judge and this isn't the only time he had jumped at something hours before, but misses 95% of the time. That's usually what these accounts do. Incarcerated Bob was another one of these accounts. With that said, he did surprise me when I saw the tweet wasn't a photoshop job, so I'll give him that. Perhaps CJ is just on it. But I think it'll likely be "in spite of" as opposed to "he knew" even if we sign him. But it's fun to think he's got a line here.

It's amazing how chicago reporters are soooo quiet on this.

I will say this: I find this to be a compelling thing. Perhaps everyone is too scared to talk with how bad Jon Morosi looks right now, or just in deference to not having information, but even when local Toronto guys were jumping in on the Ohtani thing, Chicago sat quiet. It's been a weird reaction. I

I'd have expected someone to have a reaction to all that talk, even retweeting their previous articles of other plans for the offseason but the silence was noticeable.

Yah, that's probably right. I was thinking having a shot to look legitimate was the goal but that's probably only a perk compared to the engagement/gained followers he's adding whether he's right or wrong. Posting updates raises that engagement.

You beat me to this. I was going to say the same thing. I don’t think a reputable sports reporter is going to report anything until it is 100% official.

Yeah, I've given up thinking Charles has any information.

Twitter was bad before Musk, but he has incentivized this stuff with money.

Or when they posted a picture of Las Vegas pretending to be at the Winter Meetings but the sign in the background was advertising a show that ended a few years before.
