I will say this, if it isn’t the Cubs it better be the Dodgers. I can except that. I will believe there was nothing they could do to change his mind. But if it is the Blue Jays I would question why the Cubs couldn’t do more. Easy to say the Dodgers have more going for them then the Cubs. I have a hard time believing the Cubs FO couldn’t convince Otani they have more going for them than the Blue Jays.

Especially if he cares about winning like what’s been reported. The Rays are pretty consistently good. The Orioles have arrived and aren’t going away any time soon. The Yankees are the Yankees and seem to be making moves. The Red Sox are the Red Sox. I’m with you.. if it’s the Dodgers, fine. I get it. But we have a much easier path to perennial playoff team than the Jays.

I’m not saying the Cubs are better team or a better option. I am saying they are on par with the Blue Jays. So if they for him the did better convincing or offer a better contract. Dodger have a built in advantage because they always win and they are in the same city he has been in for years. That might be too much to overcome.

I could see him choosing the Blue Jays. Toronto is a freaking great city to live in for the summer. It's low key and chill. The Blue Jays are Canada's Team and they travel well on the road. They have a lot of young talented players. It's a good spot to land.

This guy has 25k followers, no idea if he knows anything, or what he's actually trying to say in his confusingly worded tweet.  The Cubs made an offer, but it wasn't good enough and now its down to LAD and TOR?

Edit:  reading some of his subsequent posts, I'm not sure he knows much.  Seems to be a Blue Jays guy

Yikes. That would suck to be beaten out by the blue jays.

Pretty much everything yiu said about Toronto yiu could say about Chicago.  Chicago is amazing in the summer. Great food, theater, museums,

We don't know exactly what Shohei's sensibilities are, but Toronto is a great, cosmopolitan city, the media is likely to be a lot less intense/demanding. And the Jays are competitive.

That said, if he really prioritizes winning, making it of that division is gonna be a taller task year in and year out than the NLC. But we don't really know just how much of a priority that is.

If he wants a place where he can avoid being under constant media scrutiny, Toronto may have something over both LA and Chicago.

All that said, I don't think anyone really knows what is going on here.

I think the Jays are just the equivalent of the "mystery team" right now. Just a red herring.

If we’re really out this does give Jed a few extra days to pivot before the meetings. Still time to make impact moves.

I don't think the Cubs are out. No one in Chicago is reporting that. Wouldn't even consider it yet.

How does the BlueJay’s equivalent of David Kaplan have a source confirming that the Cubs made an offer, and that it’s down to Jays and Dodgers? No chance. Still probably 60/30/10 Dodgers/Cubs/other if I had to make an incredibly uninformed guess.

Ehh generally I take the worst case scenarios in life and try to adjust. Then, if it turns out the other way it’s an extra happy moment!

Having said that, I hope that if we don’t get him Jed already knows and can move on. He’s a huge addition to any teams payroll and the teams that are in the running can’t do anything else until they know. It would be better to know now and pivot than find out in a week.

I haven't heard anything about an offer or a visit

It can be difficult to navigate this new media landscape with Ohtani having so much secrecy, it's a little complicated but I made a flow chart to help interpret all these rumors and rumblings

That’s exactly it though! 🤣 It was like this with Correa last year as well. It gets a bit annoying.

Heyman just released his Friday rumors article. Nothing new really.

Re Ohtani: “Cubs and Giants are thought to be in big” along with the Dodger.

He also said we are still looking at Belli but our focus is currently on Ohtani.

Please god don't let them miss Ohtani and then throw 200M at Bellinger.

If they miss Ohtani they should go hard for Yamamoto and Imanaga.

Read someone is saying on Twitter that Buster Olney is claiming Ohtani has decided . Olney thinks it’s the Dodgers .

They've been attached to Yamamoto so much less than a handful of other teams, I'd frankly be pretty shocked if he ended up in Chicago.

If it's from Mr. Rass, then I don't believe that the person is legitimate. First, he was responding to "Dave" who is clearly not a real source. Secondly there seems to be zero other mentions of Olney claiming Ohtani has decided it is the Dodgers. If true, itd be everywhere. He posted that over an hour ago. Rass has 20 followers.

I think we just have to wait until a real source here, and even at that, like the best of the best. This will broken by a Passan or a Ken. This is supposed to be very hushed.
