I don't want to officially give up on the Cubs quite yet but it sure feels like Hendricks is auditioning for other teams right now.

I find a Hendricks trade highly unlikely.  There are other teams who would be interested, but they probably wouldn't be willing to give up a whole lot and I don't think Kyle is a guy the Cubs want to dump just to get rid of.  Plus the option for next year is a viable one for the Cubs if Kyle continues to pitch like he has.

That's definitely possible, though I think it better serves the Cubs to take what prospects they can get and rebuild in the offseason.

The 2024 Cubs have Steele, Taillon, and Wesneski as under-contract rotation options before factoring in any prospects with no MLB experience. They have a lot of work to do on the rotation if they have aspirations of competing next year. I lean toward the idea that maintaining that 2024 option heading into the off-season is more valuable than the prospect return he’d net.

What did Ross get tossed for?

Hendricks was called for a pitch clock violation before the first pitch of the bottom of the first, with the hitter not close to the batters box, Ross kept on him through the first few batters and got tossed

So nice of the Cubs to responds to Jed's "hey maybe we'll be buyers if we don't completely horsefeathers the bed for the next couple of weeks" by going 4-10 in their next 14 games

Is it just me or does it seem like umpires have been particularly awful this year?  I can remember going like an entire week without getting mad at umpires or even really noticing they are there (minus a missed call here and there) but for whatever reason it seems like they are out there to piss people off daily.

About to be 8.5 games out of the division and he'll do something stupid like keep everyone because he thinks they're still competitive.

It worked out, but why does Ross hate Amaya?

This is crude because I don't know how to find it otherwise, but Amaya has been vulnerable to velo/power stuff like Kahnle's

Also Ross isn't currently managing

That was a pretty fun inning. Awesome work by both Young and Gomes to make the Yankees pay for the error

Bases loaded 0 outs with 4, 5 and 6 due up.  Better horsefeathering score here
