8/9 today, I incorrectly guessed Vinny Castilla for DET/COL so I didn't get to try DET/SD.

Spoiler

OMC's time on this board helped because I pulled Seth Smith deep out of my butt for OAK/SD, was a complete wild guess.

Neifi/blank/Cabrera

Matt Holliday/Seth Smith/McGwire

Kris Bryant/Benito Santiago/Mays

My brain stupidly translated the Braves logo to A’s, and somehow I still got 2/3 in the top row. Couldn’t for the life of me figure out why Rickey Henderson or Giambi weren’t being accepted for .300 hitter.

I am still 0-fer on Edwin Jackson usage when stuck.

He works for one of the squares. Same square that Dotel fits. I did not guess either.

Pretty easy low percentage Cubs available for Fridays grid.

Trying to guess which ones you were referring to.  I got:

Spoiler

Derrek Lee for ATL/PIT and Reed Johnson for TOR/ATL

Edit:  And Corey Patterson for CIN/TOR

Rarity score of 30 today and it wasn't even that hard with the former Cubs tip.  Obviously once I had 4 fairly rare selections I was going for rare picks the rest of the way like Dale Murphy and Alan Trammell over more obvious picks, but they all came to me pretty easy.

Spoiler

Derrek Lee - Reed Johnson - Dale Murphy

Sean Casey - Corey Patterson - Frank Robinson

Honus Wagner - Frank Thomas - Alan Trammell

I used

Spoiler

Jose Hernandez (.03)/Derosa (0.9)/Lofton (0.4) across the top

I didn't get all of these, but you could also use

Spoiler

Marlon Byrd/Miguel Cairo/Castellanos in the middle row

Goose Gossage/Fred McGriff/Cap Anson (or any number of HOF Cubs) in the bottom row

Damn there really are a lot of them.  Makes me wonder if I should start my mental searching each day by thinking about former Cubs that may have played for the other 2 teams.

I got stuck on 8. CIN/TOR just never came to me and I tossed Sean Marshall against the wall to see if it would stick. It didn't.

Edwin Encarnacion

Was the obvious one

Yeah, that was a facepalm moment when the 'complete' screen came up. A lot of stuff between the mid-2000s and 2016 is pretty much a memory hole for me.

Lee Derosa and Blauser on the top line.

I messed up and didn’t use Patterson in the middle but realized it after I put in Scott Rolen.

Then used Santo for the .300/HOF.

CLE and STL 300 game winners was harder than I was expecting.  Thankfully I remembered from previous grids that none of Sabathia, Feller or Gibson got to 300 wins.  Remembered Phil Niekro had a spell in Cleveland and took a wild guess that Cy Young played for the Cardinals.
