feels like another season where nobody cares by may

Seems like all Chicago sports seasons lately (tuning out within a month or so after the season starts)

As much as I don't want to spread any negativity; I said before the season started, that I would assume a loss in any game Smyly starts. I would gladly take a win by surprise in his games though.

Because of his spring, or the fact that the his solid numbers last year were a little flukey?

Mainly his spring, because I don't remember much of his '22. Though I know he's always been on and off during the regular season.

He had solid numbers last year and finished the last 2 months very strong. I can’t remember his contract but I don’t think he was ridiculously expensive. So I get why the Cubs would be interested in bringing him back, especially with Hendricks not being ready to start the season and young guys like Steele and Wesneski not fully established yet. But looking at his career numbers it was far from a sure bet that he’d be a solid starter (and of course only 1 regular season start so can’t draw conclusions quite yet)

getting X-rays but he stayed in the game and what was the EV on that hit in the 9th?

Just an all around banner performance from Ross. Feels like the team needs to perform a little better to actually put his job at risk, but he’s got to go. Front office put an end to 2016 nostalgia when they dumped all the actual good players from that team.

Wisdom was dealing with a sore left wrist after getting drilled in the fifth. Although his wrist felt tender on swings, Wisdom said postgame X-rays came back clean. Asked why he didn’t pinch hit for Wisdom because of his wrist, Ross replied, “There’s a lot of factors within that.”

“He kept telling me it was good,” Ross added. “He’s one of our better bunters, to be honest with you, and got in a 3-1 count.”

Ross debated whether to let Wisdom swing once he reached the 3-1 count.

“I didn’t, and a bad result, but he’s a really good bunter, really good player,” Ross said. “I thought the matchup favored us getting that guy over to second and third and it just didn’t work out.”

LOL fire this dumbass
