I think Payton must have long term plans in Denver because I would not count on Wilson bouncing back to elite levels.

But the Denver area must be excited about their new football coaches

They are in a bad draft situation as well. They are going to be pretty bad for the next couple of years.

How far does DJ Moore, #9, the Panthers' 2023 2nd, and 2024 1st get the Panthers to the #1 pick? Panthers have the WR depth, Bears have a major need, Moore's a PB caliber 26 YO PB caliber WR, and then obviously the picks

A little short, as I reckon it. Need to add their 2024 2nd or their 2025 1st. Bears might need to toss a 2024 3rd or 4th back in their direction.

The Ringer is projecting Carolina to trade up to 1 using the 24 and 25 first rounders (in addition to #9, obviously). That seems more realistic to me but I wonder if the Bears would want to move down that far.

I'd probably take that trade, TBH. DJ Moore isn't elite, but he's pretty good and good enough that you wouldn't really have to do anything else at the WR position. Moore, Claypool, Mooney, Jones Jr, St. Brown is solid enough that you could be done with that position and would have resources to use elsewhere, though wouldn't hate another small investment here as Claypool would likely walk after 2023.

Pretty much a prerequisite for a trade down would be an early 2nd and a 2024 1st. Anything more than that is gravy. And a really good young WR is enough gravy to bite for me.

I honestly thought DJ Moore was older than he is just before asking the question too. Excellent player coming off arguably his most complete season (7 TDs in 63 recs at 14 yards per)

Post date this for after the SB but NFL offseason question...How wrong or right is it to say Tomlinson is the GOAT at RB?

Without actually studying the stats I would say he’s not even top 5. Definite HOFer but peak was too short. Maybe the fantasy football GOAT RB

Ooooh, I just looked at Jim Brown’s stats. And Walter Payton. Ooooh. How close is Marshall Faulk? Adrian Peterson?

Ooooh…How high up is Peterson in the convo for best college + NFL player of all time?

How is Barry Sanders not being mentioned?

LOL. This is going to be interesting.

Is Payton's personality at all like Parcells'? I believe he coached under Bill when he was the Dallas HC, I wonder if he has any of the "dictator" type personality that Parcells had (use your own best work to describe him, that's the first thing that came to mind)

100% yes.

100% yes.

that'll be an interesting working relationship given Russells strained relationship with Pete Carroll. To be fair, Payton will be much more "throw first" which is reportedly what Russell likes, but I also think Russell doesnt like having a strong boss

There is one ONE BOSS Wilson submits to.

Ciara or whatever her name is?

I think he means Jesus. Russ is obnoxiously religious.

Payton is on record that Parcells is his mentor, and he still talks to him all the time. In retrospect, it’s part of why the Saints fell apart. Payton controlled everything, from meals to hotels to uniforms, flights, everything. He’s THAT guy.

Strong disagree that Payton is “throw first”. Outside of the three middling 7-9 seasons several years ago, he is a run first, play action, strong defense guy. His best teams always had a two or three RB rotation. Brees just made it seem like he was pass happy.

but will he be more throw first than Carroll? Thats all I was suggesting, and Pete wants to run the ball 50 times a game. but you would know him better than me, for sure

Paytons’ response to the incident personal coach situation is hardly a dictator type response. There is no reason for a personal coach to be in the building. You can’t have that. Wilson walked all over a rookie coach and destroyed any power and influence he had in that building with a terrible season coming off a subpar season.
