There's some non-journalist rumoring that this is a 3 way deal involving the Brewers/Adames, which would certainly be interesting.

EDIT: yep

One Contreras in St. Louis, the other in Milwaukee. We live in hell

What am I missing on the Brewers’ side of the Murphy transaction? They get William Contreras, a bullpen piece, and another prospect and all they had to give up was Esteury Ruiz?

I see his ranking all over the map, but the consensus seems to be that he was about the Brewers’ 5th best prospect.

Yeah there's some stuff to really like about Ruiz, and he's a guy the new rules might help even more, but he should be the other guy in return for Contreras not by far the most valuable piece.

Oh, you're not missing anything.

The Cubs need a catcher, a horsefeathering All-Star was available for a prospect and instead he goes to a division rival. Of course he probably doesn't pitch-frame well enough either or something.

Don't forgot that there were TWO pretty darn good catchers available for prospects in this deal!

What are the Orioles doing? They were surprisingly good last year, they'll be adding 2 of the top 10 prospects in baseball to next year's team and rather than spend some money to fill in the gaps, their lone fa signing is kyle Gibson. They're where the 2015 Cubs were, but instead of grabbing Their Lester they're doing basically nothing.

Isn't the owner and his family in a fight over control of the team?

Based on Twitter vibes the Orioles and Red Sox seem to be the two fanbases having a tougher time than the Cubs

Damn that would’ve been a nice deal for us, even if we had to pay a little premium for not being in LA/a contender. Even though we have more opportunity for him to start.
