Does that mean their bye is Week 9? I thought teams couldn't play 2 Thursday games unless they played one Week 1 or Thanksgiving

They changed it this year so that some teams can play 2 TNF games

Also, when was the last time the Bears played in Green Bay during the day? This has to be the first time in a long time

2010 season (Jan 2011) they played a 3pm game there.  I know 2009 was an opening SNF game (Cutler's debut).  I think 2008 was the last noon game they played there, and I know 2007 was a night game...that was the Griese comeback game.

I'm sure most here remember the 06 @GB game.

I'm reading people saying that Bears @ Chiefs is actually going to be in week 3, not week 7.  Doesn't seem like a ton more is going to leak before 6pm

not bad. As I suspected Chargers game is on SNF. the stretch of one home game between 10/23 and 12/10 seems rough (and once again 3 home games in Dec/Jan), but there’s a bye week in there

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve home games are interesting

Week 8, 9, 10 could be a disaster. Sunday night on the west coast, Sunday in New Orleans and following Thursday at home.
two games as likely road dogs then come home against inferior opponent on short rest. Carolina will have had their bye then back to back games against bad teams home vs Houston and Indy.

Bears follow that up with two road divisional games against likely better teams.

that 5 game stretch before the bye could make or break the season

2 Thursday night games is the dumbest thing ever.

Give me Noon Sunday 9 times out of 10.

Primetime games are the easiest for me to catch. Obviously I hope they arent bookend by terrible road trips but I dont mind them

Yep. For those of us who are out of market, primetime games are the only guarantee we can see the team

Couple of interesting things I saw about the schedule on Twitter:

  • Bears vs. Vikings on MNF, week 12 sounds great.  However, the NFL is now doing flex scheduling for MNF starting in....week 12.  So very possible the Bears might be shut out of MNF for the entire season if they are flexed out
  • The league almost chose Bears/Chiefs for the opening game but decided the Lions were a slightly better fit due to their strong finish to the season.  Apparently that game was moved around quite a bit, from being pegged as the Germany game, to week 1, to week 7 before it settled in week 3.

I'm out of market and still feel that all Bears games should be Sunday at noon, unless they are playing west of the central time zone, of course. But I'm also a crotchety old fart that doesn't like change. Lol.

Monday and Thursday games give me an excuse to dump out of work early

yeah, I've been out of market for decades and hate every primetime game. they are the worst broadcasts, worst games and worst times for football. Sunday afternoon is the only good time.

So are you buying Sunday Ticket every year?

*Checks the topic* OK right thread for this.  From DraftKings, every Bears line this year right now:

vs. GB: -2.5

@ TB: -1.5

@ KC: +9.5

vs. DEN: +1.5

@ WAS: +1.5

vs MIN: +1

vs. LV: -1

@ LAC: +5.5

@ NO: +2

vs CAR: +2 (?!?)

@ DET: +5

@ MIN: +3.5

BYE

vs DET: +1.5

@ CLE: +3.5

vs ARI: -4.5

vs ATL: -2

@ GB: +2

Favored in 5 of 17 games, with 3 of those 5 games favorite due to the 3 points unofficially given to home teams, but 3 of the 12 games we are dogs because of our opponent gets the 3 points.

Yeah, that Carolina line is wild to me. So is Denver favored in Chicago. But I was looking at the Carolina schedule w/ particular interest, and I like how there's shakes out for the Bears hopes of a high 1st.

MNF in Week 2 followed by a short week, long road trip to a tough place to play in Seattle, which is also the first of 4 straight playoff or prospective playoff teams (Detroit). And IDC, I'll take the home game on TNF every time, I don't have the numbers, but figure that's gotta be a nice advantage for the home team. Then the long week after TNF advantage is probably mitigated by playing a likely good Cowboys team. Then they have 3 straight road games, though not against great teams, before the final stretch.

Vegas only bakes 1.5 points into the line now for home teams as it isn't the advantage it used to be. I would think after the Bears finish week 5 anything less than 3-2 would be a disappointment.  Clearly a loss to the Chiefs but the others should be winnable

If the Bears are so bad that they get flexed out of MNF this year, things will have gone much much worse than expected and you probably won't care about missing them on MNF lol

What if it’s the Vikings that are the reason for being flexed out? 😲

Of course if the Bears are even like 6-5 by that point they’ll surely want to keep a relevant Bears team on the schedule

People questioning why the bears would be dogs vs mediocre teams must not have watched the bears. Those teams are better than the bears until Chicago proves otherwise. The defense is still terrible and nobody has faith in this coaching staff. Most don’t have faith in fields. Sean Payton and Russell Wilson are going to be favored over Eberflus and Fields until/unless the bears win games.

People who have watched Fields seem to feel otherwise. Fields has his flaws; the short game, holding on too long, but he also sets QB records. And he isn't an idiot. the franchise does pivot on him right now, but hes already showing competency

That second part.
