Another 40,000 paying customers are enjoying bad baseball at Wrigley. Cubs are winning 1-0 somehow. Steele has pitched his 2 great innings and now his velo will drop and he’ll get shelled (prove me wrong!)

Wait so in that recruiting visit to Wrigley in March, they clearly just pasted Seiya's face on Contreras' body on the video board. We can't do better graphics work than that?

There's barely 25,000 there

I'm not sure where any of us are supposed to find hope when everyone who's actually important in the near term except maybe Happ has been godawful since Seiya's hot start - including the higher minor leaguers.

You can tell I'm watching intently. Of the 10 mins I watched I saw the backdrop of the bleachers and it looked packed.

The Dodger approach at the plate is just leaps better than the Cubs up and down the lineup. They're also faster, better at defense, and superior on the mound. They come in first every year (nearly) and still have a farm system 10x better than the Cubs. It really makes me want to quit baseball

Is this a 100 loss team? It’s really hard to see 60 wins.

The schedule has been fairly difficult so there's a possibility the team is better than the 54-108 pace they are currently on. But at the same time this team is clearly going to be dismantled at the deadline so it might even get worse, though I find it hard to believe it can get worse.

I didn't think competing was realistic this year, but I did think it was realistic next year. At this point I'd be surprised if they were competitive in 2024.

They still play the Reds 19 times. They had a pretty tough schedule to start the year, wouldn't be shocked if they ended up around 70 wins.

0 or 1 run in 7 of the last 11 games. 3 runs or less in 14 of the last 16 games. Weeeeeeee

22 runs total in the last 12 games since scoring 21 in one game.

Tickets for decent seats for last night's game were selling for $6 on the secondary market.

This is the one chance we have for Ricketts to fix things. Baseball isn't in a place where the Cubs are going to put 30K fans in the seats day after day with a miserable product on the field. He's going to have to be forced to realize that he has to invest money or interest in the team is going to keep dwindling and profit is going to keep declining.
