Texans are possibly hiring Josh McCown as their next HC. His only coaching experience was coaching his son's HS team in 2019 while he was also backing up Wentz in Philly.

I'm actually rooting for this. We've seen MLB and NBA coaches essentially go from playing to coaching. I'd like to see how this works out in the NFL. McCown could hire coordinators that run that side of the ball. I'm sure he could probably call plays too. But I'd suspect he'd trust guys with those jobs while essentially being the QB coach and leading the team, which he has done from on the field before. It probably only happens with long-time vet QBs, maybe a LB like Ray Lewis was, an inspirational team leader type, but this would be fun to see how this works out.

Tom Brady retires. Seems like a good time to mention this:

Thank you Carolina for the Bears not being the NFC team with the worst point differential against Brady

Did he have the best career of any professional athlete? Has most titles of any athlete in his sport and also holds the records in most major statistical categories for his position.

I suppose the only real comps would be Jordan and Gretzky.

I would say Gretzky had the best career of any athlete in team sports. But Brady's is the most impressive considering football is the most team driven of the team sports and he proved last year that he's the biggest needle mover in the game's history.

The SB numbers are insane, and I doubt anyone ever gets close to him, but he never really dominated the league for an extended stretch at all similarly to Jordan and Gretzky. There are a handful of other QBs that I think are at least as talented as Brady, and I can't say the same for Jordan and Gretz.

Yeah he’s the GOAT but I can think of QBs with more pure talent.

It’s just the consistency over such a long period, not only getting to multiple SBs but winning them.

Then going to TB and lifting that team immediately to a SB.

Playing well into his 40’s at a high level until the end.

It’s amazing.

But uh, Tampa Bay the clock just struck midnight. Back to mediocrity.

So now several reports saying he's not retiring and/or has not made up his mind for next year now.

Shefty is going to get torched

Brady is the dude who gets to see how the world reacts to his “death” without actually dying yet.

That’s an understatement.

It’s front page ESPN, on major media sites, the tributes and career retrospectives have begun.

Jason la Canfora reporting Bradys retirement is imminent. If Rodgers is traded to Denver, the NFC is gonna be so wide open. They may wanna consider splitting up the NFC West lol.

to be fair, you could have placed just about any of the names you think of as all time great QBs into that situation and they could have pulled it off.

it's still impressive as hell that it actually happened, though. Kind of an exclamation point on his career.

At age 43 though? Pretty much every all time great QB was retired at age 43. Dude threw for 4600 yards and 40 TD and win a Super Bowl at an age virtually all QB are a shell of their peak selves.

Gretzky was so much better than everyone else that its almost hard to believe

This.

I’m no puckhead, but Gretzky played in the least popular major sport, for a Canadian team, in the western time zone, well before the surges of the 24 sports programming, the internet and social media. The NHL was forced to change the rules of hockey because Gretzky (mostly) and the rest of the Oilers were so dominant on power plays. Gretzky was probably the greatest/most dominant singular player of any team sport in the history of sports. And I don’t even think it’s close.

As far as TB being the greatest champion, Bill Russell disagrees.

I've been involved in this conversation a couple of times before and the answer is some cricket player.
