Game 1. Steele will probably throw 5 innings with 2 ER and take the loss.

Game 2. Mills will probably throw 6 innings and 4 runs and get the win.

Baseball is like that only dumber.

Steele getting RAWKED!! Not a good showing, only 2nd time through the order.

OK, my comment may have been a tad bit overzealous but it just doesn’t sound good over the radio.

I think the Adames dong got him out of his groove and it took a few batters (and a visit from Hottovy) to get back into a good headspace.

Fairly normal young pitcher stuff, just gotta see it get better with experience.

yeah i didnt expect him to go out and throw 7 scoreless innings. Just want to see flashes and then maybe some improvement and consistency by the end of the year

5 innings, 3 runs, 11 groundballs/5 flyballs in his first career start. We know he has the strikeout ability, this was encouraging.

Yeah, I feel like from his relief work it wasn't too hard to imagine he could do the high K high BB low IP type of outing. Seeing him with an outing where he leaned hard on the sinker and did the pitch efficiency thing was really good to see. If he was stretched out more or it wasn't 1000 degrees outside he'd likely have gone 7 IP, that's awesome.

Also I did some digging and the last time Trevor Megill pitched a scoreless inning was...

... horsefeathering NEVER

I'm glad I'm not the only one who reached this absolutely scientific conclusion.

The game log says he went 1 1/3 scoreless vs Colorado last Tuesday, but I frankly refuse to believe it.

i mean, who gives a horsefeathers, and this is the most i've paid attention to a game in weeks, but pinch-running for happ right there is just hilariously stupid.

I don't think this was a damagingly negative showing, but we also should be mindful that Steele is 26 and didn't look MLB caliber in the bat-missing department. Could be intentional to help with endurance/pitch economy, but also you hope that this ends up more of a bad outing for a pitcher with aspirations to start in 2022.

On paper this team to me doesn’t seem like a 100 loss team. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t look like a good or average team. 2-9 since the trades is inconsequential but a little annoying. I’d like to occasionally enjoy a win

The backups and minor leaguers also strike out way too much and can't seem to get a man in from third with less than 2 outs.

Contact is overrated. Just hit the dingers.
