I don’t really understand why the Marlins are having to put together a random collection of minor leaguers but the Cardinals get to just postpone games. Make the horsefeathers play with all minor leaguers or forfeit.

I definitely think it was done because they assumed the Marlins were non-competitive.

Are a bunch of the Marlins who tested positive not playing? I haven't been paying any attention to them. I see from the schedule that they postponed games for a week after the positive tests but had no idea who was playing once games resumed.

They have 53 guys on the 40 man and a lot on the 10 day dl, so yes. I've also never heard of the vast majority of these guys.

So what’s the plan? There’s no way they can play 55 games within the days left on the schedule (can’t even start until Thursday at the earliest). Even if they start playing minor leaguers now it’s just too late to do it.

The plan: They play their remaining scheduled games but get an unfair handicap of winning the NL Central with the highest win%

I think the difference is that the Marlins has a pretty good idea of who had been exposed and who hadn’t while the Cards tests have been trickling in little by little and they have no idea who may or may not test positive, so it’s hard to just bring in new guys not knowing if the guys who haven’t tested positive yet still might.

So they’re gonna jump right in to playing after ~2 weeks off.

They shouldn’t play at all if they’ve had no negative tests.

Classic Bob.

horsefeathers this. Of course MLB is burdening other teams because of their horsefeathers up. I hope Flaherty blows his arm out.

Yes but I guarantee you that if the Cubs had an unfortunate outbreak next week, the MLB would probably make them send South Bend to Chicago because they can’t afford any more teams missing 3 weeks of games. Crock of horsefeathers.

Also why are they forcing the Cubs to play 2 doubleheader’s next week? The Cardinals are going to play 8 games in 5 days and they come to Wrigley twice this year. Make them play a doubleheader on the next series, and a second doubleheader the next time they come to town. They can make up the 3rd game if it’s needed after the season.

Guessing this is what Alzolay is getting called up for. He gets the 2nd game Monday, Q gets the second game Wednesday?

2 doubleheaders this week actually works out better for the Cubs with an off day Thursday (the Cardinals are scheduled to play Thursday already), and can avoid having games backloaded for the last 2 weeks while the Cardinals have effectively 20 games scheduled for the last 14 days of the season (including all 10 games against MIL).
