does anyone think the cubs might try to run the rooftops?

can they pass it off as a bar/restaurant and run it under those guidelines?

I would imagine so. I believe I saw that if Chicago stays in Phase 4 Wrigley can operate at 20% capacity. I think the big question would be whether the rooftops would be treated like an extension of Wrigley or like you said like a bar/restaurant.

lightfoot already said that chicago won't allow it (20% at wrigley/major venues) for the foreseeable future

I could be off in my thinking but I'd imagine they'd be running at a loss or just barely a profit to run them at such a low capacity. May be more profitable to run the season off as a total loss due to some sort of super rich people write off or insurance claim.

i have a hard time believing that (as far as the rooftops go)

Ah, that makes sense. I did think it would be super weird if they allowed Wrigley to open after being so careful about keeping the 606 and Lakefront open.

There’s only 30 games, I could see how they could just jack up the prices and have willing buyers on the rooftops and make money on 20% capacity

So we only play the NL central and AL central? Good thing the AL central is, mostly, crap.

Hopefully we see a schedule soon. I could see the Cubs and White Sox playing all 6 of their games back to back. Also, there are two 100 loss teams in the AL central, Sox and Twins win total will probably be inflated in a 60 game season. Wouldn't be surprised if both AL wildcards come from there.

I really want to see which AL Central teams we are losing games against in order to play the Sox 6 times instead of 4. If the Cardinals get more games against the Royals/Tigers than we do, that could make the difference in such a very short season.

The White Sox are still closer to the Tigers and Royals than they are to the Twins and Indians, imo. They won 62 games last year. But yeah, hopefully it’s balanced as much as possible between us, Brewers (Their [expletive] in 60 games is going to be so annoying), Cardinals and Reds with the opponents in the AL Central and someone doesn’t miss out a lot on the Twins/Indians.

So Schwarbs is gonna DH right? Or Souza because we don't know how his legs will hold up?

I know we "don't have money" but having the DH now and a shortened season REALLY makes me wanna sign Piug.

Puig-Happ-Heyward in the OF with Souza and Almora backing up, Schwarber full time DH.

It was discussed a few pages back. I’m more hoping the DH is treated to optimize lineups/play matchups and keep KB/Rizzo/Javy/Willy fresh vs just making Schwarbs/Souza the default DH for ~90% of the games.

Are they not just doing 4 games vs everyone?

No, MLB announcement stipulated 6 games against your designated rival team. So I guess we're playing one series each of 3 or 4 games against the other AL Central teams.

There's no way this season makes it to the finish line, right?

If they held the season in a bubble like the NBA and NHL they might have had a shot but it’s difficult to see there not being massive losses of players during the season. I think this will end up being a massive disaster.

Is MLB really going to allow individual teams/cities to decide if they can have fans present at their home games? Besides the obvious competitive advantage, doesn’t it seem like a bit of a mixed message if they’re telling the players they must isolate and they can’t even leave their hotel on the road but it’s suddenly okay to be around thousands of fans at game time?

I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a debacle this will be in relation to the Blue Jays. Canada is going to quarantine the entire team any time they come back from a road series.
