If you told me the Cubs were talking about Limet and Campusano I would've said 'that's a little less than I'd hope to get for Contreras'. Would have been unimaginably dumb for Bryant.

if that were real, both FOs would be incredibly dumb

there's no way in hell dinelson lamet was a primary piece of interest in a KB deal

Why not? There's a substantial amount of hype around him this year as a prime breakout candidate. Outside of Paddack and Tatis, who certainly wouldn't be available, he's the most valuable mlb trade piece they have. Lamet, munoz and Campusano would be a really nice haul and likely more than they will get in reality.

Why not?

Because a pre-injured pitcher who hasn't even been good yet is a terrible start to a Kris Bryant trade

The Cubs love to shop in the pre-injured pitcher aisle at the store.

You're asking for ridiculous packages.

Well yeah, that should be the case when entertaining the idea of trading a possible future HOFer in his prime

And that asking price is how you end up with nothing but a draft pick after wasting his value on two years of a very marginal baseball team.

That's a possible outcome. It's also a way to not end up trading Kris Bryant for some other contender's spare pre-injured arms and A ballers because of some offseason press so there's that

I would love some dream scenario where some team inexplicably gives up a player that is basically as good as Bryant, under control longer and is cheaper, but it's not happening. I like Bryant as much as anyone, but you need to be realistic in what his value is. Also, enough with the injured arm stuff. Damn near every pitcher by 25 has injured their arm to some degree.

A) That article seems like an awful lot of speculation. Still...

B)

The Mets have also indicated that they prefer not to be dealing from their dwindling farm system right now, instead preferring to leverage their available dollars.

Sad face

Fine then send us Jeff McNeil, Brandon Nimmo and Seth Lugo.

We're gonna get JD Davis and Edwin Diaz and be told to be happy about it

Woah I kind of did a "Sure Jan" yesterday because it was Nightengale, but Puma's legit connected on the Mets.

It sounds like the Mets are going to stay under the tax, at least for this year. They're currently ~$35M under, so maybe they prefer Bryant + another few bench/pen guys + wiggle room at the deadline to just Springer? It's not unreasonable.

I feel like we’re being set up for another 1990’s, when it was Grace and Sosa and nobody else, this time Rizzo and Javy.

There's been talk that the Jays are having trouble getting guys to take their money because of how messy the early part of this season might be for international travel.

With how limited money is this offseason they're clearly going to be able to get some guys, but it may be if they strike out on all the FA stars they plan to do a couple mid level guys plus Bryant.
