Hate to see the galaxy brain move of using Flaherty vs Holland immediately backfire in the first inning of the DS

 

He was on normal rest on Sunday, he’ll be on normal rest tomorrow and he’ll be on normal rest if he has to pitch in a Game 5. It literally changes nothing for them.

 

Plus it kept him on his normal routine and meant he didn’t have 9 days (or whatever it would be) between starts.

I thought rest between Game 2 and Game 5 in the DS was short rest always?

 

Somewhere between 2005 and 2010 they changed it. 04 there was a 3-2 series where they played 3-4-5 on consecutive days. 2005 had one also but there was rain between 3 and 4 so I’m not sure. There wasn’t another 3-2 series until 2010. There was a day off before Game 5 in Tampa so rain couldn’t have affected that one.

Using your best pitcher to try assure you get more than a game 163 or WC play in game is "galaxy brain?"

Yes. Especially vs Derek Holland and because the other team needed to win to tie you. Hey it looks like a bad decision worked out but it doesn’t make it less dumb. It also saved your best pitcher for a true elimination game if needed (163 or WC).

Sorry man, your line of thought is dumb as horsefeathers.

And now they are going to win and have Flaherty lined up for game 2. So predictable. I have no idea why some franchises just can’t do horsefeathers in the playoffs. Like the Braves could field the NL All Star team and they probably lose this series

Atlanta is playing St. Louis. Crap St. Louis teams with no business in the playoffs are essentially teams of Roman gods in October. I don't blame Atlanta one bit for what is inevitable.

I have no idea why Carlos Martinez is the closer. Every time I see him come in he sucks. He must be really good in every single game he pitches in except the ones I see
