LeMahieu with a ninth inning two run shot off the Astros domestic abuser to tie the game.

I’m torn right now. I kind of want a Game 7 but I also think it would be funny to see the Yankees’s domestic abuser give it up here.

I want a Game 7 but I also want Astros-Nats (just think that’s the more entertaining World Series).

12 different teams won a pennant in the 2010s. The Yankees were not one of them.

First decade the Yankees have not appeared in a WS since the 1910’s, yet they have the most wins in this decade.

WELL ACTUALLY, 2020 is really the last year of the decade.... *runs and hides*

The last year of the 2010s is 2020?

Well, you clearly get jokes. But yes, the last year of the decade is technically 2020.

I think we're all rooting for the Nats now. Not a huge fan of the team, but I really enjoyed how Juan Soto got under the skin of Cards fans lol.

They love Yadi and his stupid histrionics, but how dare someone on the opposing team play that way...

So this happened on Saturday.

Now I know you're probably thinking that of course the Astros denounced the comments and/or said that he was out of line. NOPE.

Also, shame on Sports Illustrated for their headline. Saying it's an "Astros staffer" is really downplaying who exactly made the comments. It was the horsefeathering assistant GM who said it. But saying "Astros staffer" makes it sound like it was some random person in the front office.

Shame on Sports Illustrated? Really?

99% of people have never heard of this person, why would they put it in the headline?

Yeah, you are correct. Headline was absolutely fine.

At the risk of bringing in too much overlap from the Politics thread...100% agree on this take.

100 percent. It's scary how much it will work, too. Even if there is video of it, people who don't want to believe will come up with any reason to justify why it's not true.

Nope you’re both wrong. You don’t necessarily have to list the person’s name in the headline but you can’t just say “Astros staffer”. That means nothing. It’s a guy who is one promotion from running his own front office and it should be called out as such. Say assistant GM. Say executive. But “Astros staffer” is [expletive].

It's the freaking headline and was spelled out completely in the story. My lord.

And? A lot of people will probably see the headline and think it was some random dude and won’t bother to read the story. It’s not. Call it what it is. This isn’t very hard. Headlines matter. Not as much as the content of the actual story. But they matter.
